One of the most active organizations at WHS this year has been the Future Teachers' group. Under the able supervision of Miss Edna Palecek, Elementary Supervisor, this group worked daily withthe regular class room teach- ers in our building. Among the various jobs were checking papers, typing materials to be used in classes, helping with programs, changing bulletin boards, operating movie equipment and slide projectors, and assisting on the play- ground, At the annual FTA Convention heldin West Bend in October, Loretta Kinsler and Beverly Broehm were elected to STATE OFFICES as secretary and historian, respectively, President Darlene Sehmude participated ina radio broadcast on teacher recruitment sponsored by the State School Boards' Association, Beginning the year with a candlelight installation of new members and new officers, the group finished the year with a banquet, guests being the mothers or adult friends plus possible future members. Speakers were Mr. Robert Fowler, County Superintendent of Schools and Miss Annabel Wolfe. Dean of Girls at Appleton High School. Girls who served as assistants to the regular teachers were: Kindergarten: Sarah Schneider. Grade 1: Pat Hendry, Darlene Schmude, Marilyn Herbst, Kay Becker, Grade 2: Phyllis Hansen. Grade 3: Judy Larson, Kay Meyer, Grade 4: Donna Hubli, Rita Procknow. Grade 5: Nancy Thiex, Mary Korn.
