One of the prettiest spots on New Hampshire’s small coastline is the dunes of Seabrook. Dunes have been destroyed by man as well as by the elements and are becoming hard to find along our coast. Walking the Boulevard during the summer is one of the freguent activities of Winnacunnet students. The new library at Winnacunnet is seldom empty. It’s so inviting that it’s become more popular than the cafeteria. Beach scenes 25

24 LIFE’S A BEACH The beach plays an important role in our lives. The Main Beach is the largest supply of money to Hampton. It also supplies us with summer jobs, and a place to hang out. Night concerts at the shell, Casino jobs, and jobs up and down the boulevard are what summer at Hampton Beach is all about. Cranky tourists with obnoxious children are the reason we all put in ten hour days behind a hot grill, or a sticky counter. But don’t forget, without tourists we wouldn’t be able to have such exciting summers and meet so many new and in- teresting people. Many of us take the beach for granted because we have lived by it all our lives, but there are so many people in the United States that have never even seen a beach and would die for the chance to see ours. The smells and sounds of the beach are so much a part of us that when we have to go away we miss it very much. So consider yourself lucky that we live at such a desirable loca- tion and be proud of our Happy Hampton. In the summer there’s surfing and swimming. At all times of the year you can find some of our students surfing no matter what the weather. If there are waves, they’ll be there! If the waves are quiet, there are still the walks among the rocks and the spash of gentle waves on the boulders to keep us happy.

A COUNTRY MASQUERADE Spirit week began this year’s Homecoming with a variety of “dress-up” days to encourage participation in the events to follow. Monday was “school color day” and the shades of blue and white clothing varied throughout the school. Hippies invaded the school on Tuesday and it was hard to believe that some of our teachers actually dressed that way in the sixties. Wednesday was “opposite sex day”. Although not many students dressed as the opposite sex, Mr. Devantery and Mr. Bauer set a new dress code for all teachers to follow. Some students showed figures we didn't know they had. Girls found it easy to put on pants and ties, but the boys with their dresses and strange undergarments were uncomfortable and confused. Thursday was “college sweat shirt day”. Students wore sweat- shirts from every university im- aginable, even some unimagin- able. Friday was the best day of all because it was invisible man day”. Everybody had spirit that day, because there was no school. The homecoming game, lost to Somersworth 8-0, didn’t spoil the day though. There was still the homecoming dance to go to. The theme this year was Country” and almost everyone came in costume. There were ladies from the Orient, clowns, fairy god- mothers, frogs, chickens, baseball players, monks, and even a pair of dice. Obviously these weren’t all country” theme costumes, but the spirit was still there! “The Rockin’ Ranch Hoe-down” was loud, wild, and wooley. It certainly wasn't a usual night. The court - Mary Xavier, Beth Wilson, Erin Bar- nard, Andrea Burton, and Marlene Walker - didn’t all show. So the congratulatory roses were given to the helpers who made the dance possible. Shelly Jordon and Bobby-Joe Fournier.dressed as a cat and a baby, look for tender loving care at the homecoming dance. 26 Homecoming
