An exciting trip was organized by Mrs. Hiller to the southern part of Spain. She and her husband chaperoned twelve students on the ten day excursion abroad. More students had planned on going, but because of the ter- rorist acts, many decided to cancel. There were no major problems during the trip, except upon their arrival, the plane had trouble landing and thus the travelers had a long wait in the airport. The students visited many historical and intriguing things. They went to the town of La Mancha where the famous story of Don Quixote took place and visited the very beautiful Spanish palace La Alambra in Granada, where they admired the lavish gardens surrounding it. The travelers got to see some Spanish traditions in action like the Flamenco Dancers, but no one wanted to go to the world famous bull fights because they were too morbid . Some had encounters with the gypsies who are found within many European cities. The students found the gypsies begging and soliciting, and although the gypsies were bothersome they were harmless. All in all, Mrs. Hiller said that the trip was a great experience for everyone and something she wouldn't mind do- ing again in the future. Before their long descent down hundreds of steps this worn out group poses for one more quick picture. European Scenes 19

VIVE LA FRANCE VIVA ESPANA Each April during spring vacation many students take off for a vacation. Some go north for skiing, south for sun, abroad for sight-seeing or some take the time for sleep. Despite the threats of terrorism last spring, Mr. Varney, Mrs. Patenaude and thirty students traveled to Europe for a ten day learning ex- perience in two of the world’s largest cities, Lon- don and Paris. There the students visited such places as the world famous Harrod's Department Store, The Hard Rock Cafe, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Piccidily Circus. Everyone rode on a double decker bus and the tube” at least once while in London. Once in Paris the intrepid travelers all took the long awaited stroll down the Champs Elycees, visited the Eiffel Tower and Norte Dame. Although the accommodations and meals were exceptional, the world travelers found that they longed for the comfort of home again. Not long after returning to the States, their short lived European lifestyle was much missed. PEOPLE AND PLACES High school life is filled with a variety of different activities, and not all of them seem to be typically educational . Work- ing, playing, and studying either alone or with friends fill the many hours outside the classroom. There are numerous things to think about ... joining the Armed Forces, learning skills for a future job, graduating, or even just staying physical- ly fit. Each day is filled with small occurences that at the mo- ment seem to fly unimportantly by us. Yet, each of those small moments will be a cherished memory not so very long from now. If we take a moment to sleep on the bus or spend a mo- ment just quietly waiting for a ride home, it isn’t because there is nothing else to do. It is simply that the days are so very full that a pause in the rush of life gives us the enery to carry on. And carry on we do ... The kitchen at school during the day is always off-limits. Come back at night, however, when students sponser a function and you might find Anne cooking ?! Peut-etre Mille. Garon et Chris Pollard So many hours are spent waiting for the bus or the ride that never remembers to come. Will this pratique la legon du jour pendant les scene ever change for years to come? I bet our parents waited on the same spot! heures aprfes Tfecole. 20 People and Places
