FROSTY FROLICS '84 Winter time is not only a time for skiing, snowball fights, carol- ing and sledding, but a time for a CARNIVAL! Winacunnet has been celebrating the traditional Winnacarnival for twenty-five years. This is the time of the year when each class pulls together to compete against each other, to prove which is the strongest class. The spirit during this week of events is tremendous, especially towards the end of the week when the race narrows down to deter- mine the winner. This year's car- nival proved to be a tough, highly competitive contest for most of the classes, leaving the final deci- sion upon a few of the last events. The carnival activities began with the Winnabowl. In this event, each class displayed its ex- cellence in various sporting events. The Senior class dominated the Winnabowl, the girls won both floor hockey and basketball, and the boys did their best and placed well in all events. A new contest introduced to Winnacarnival was LIP SINC. This contest had class members dress up and mouth the words of a certain rock group. The Juniors stole the show by imitating the Village People. Another new event introduced to Winnacarnival was the HALL DECORATING contest, which proved to make the school a little more festive in appearance. Each class was assigned a certain hall in the school to decorate and what a job they did! The class that came out on top of the HALL DECORATING was the Sophomore class. The TOILET PAPER ROLL was still another new event. The class that unrolled the fastest was the Sophomore class. One wonders how they practiced for this event? Many other traditional events were divided among the classes, and the scoring for the events was very close. The Freshman class had a little trouble getting into the swing of things, since it was their first year. Better luck in the years to come! One of the events that took place outside was the water balloon toss. Dennis McGrath gets ready to toss the balloon to his partner. Arm wrestling was a very interesting and creative event for both the male and females, but Sue Gagne and Beth Cotter show that this was not just a sport for boys. Winnacarnival 29

This dance brought FROSTY FROLICS to a triumphant end. Everyone was anxiously waiting to hear the results of the competition and towards the end of the night the results were in. The Seniors had won with a total of 147 points, and it was Ken Carroon and Cristie Daboul that accepted the title of the King and Queen of Winnacar- nival. The Sophomores came in second with 144 points, the Juniors third with 128 points, and last but not least the Freshmen with a total of 109 points. The spirit that was displayed during the week of FROSTY FROLICS was unforgettable! All of the classes displayed a lot of ef- fort trying to show who was the strongest class. In retrospect all classes were the winners. It was the spirit and fun everyone shared that counted the most.
