Not for Men Only! Anyone who thinks girls can't play football didn’t see this year’s powder puff contest which pitted the juniors against the seniors in a rough-and-tumble game of tackle. Despite a sloppy first half, highlighted by an intense fistfight, and the usual junior gripes of senior cheating, the seniors prevailed, 32-24. Outstanding performances were turned in by Carolyn Cumming and Suzy Lemire, who shared the scoring of the four senior touchdowns. Credit must be given to the juniors, however. Coached by Jeff Copp, John Croteau, Eric Facey, and Hugh Linnehan, and captained by Jeanne Trumbull and Lisa Fernald, they played a tough, aggressive game and should be unbeatable next year. The seniors would like to thank their coaches, Tom Biron, Steve Bosinger, Mike Lindley, Rob Lippe, and Larry Lonergan for turning an incredibly disorganized group of girls into an awesome football team. Top: Heather Corbett and John Downey discuss the action from the sidelines. Middle: Tracey Hurley recovers from a strong tackle by the junior team. Bottom Row. Laurie Bowditch, Debbie Shaw, Liz Dodge, Carolyn Cumming, Tracey Hurley, Laura Boeddinghaus, Ginny Minko, Chris Willoughby, Sherry Scott. 2nd Row: Dawn Bowden, Patty Cassin, Pam Carney, Yvonne Daboul, Suzy Lemire, Sue Fernandez. Top Row: Captain Jo Robinson, Tracy Kenison, Jo Nelson, Marie Petilio, Captain Heather Corbett, Mary Cahill, Ruth Boettcher. powder puff 25

Cn the Stage Jimmy Stewart would have been proud of the WHS drama club, for their remake of Mary Chase's Harvey came pretty close to topping the actor's acclaimed 1950 version of the same play. Harvey, directed by Tom Haggerty and assisted by Lorraine Weimerskirch, is the story of Elwood P. Dowd, convincingly portrayed by Alan Reynolds. Dowd is a 47 year old bachelor with dignified bearing and yet a dreamy expression in his eyes.” He has a Pooka — a 6 foot 1 inch rabbit named Harvey that only he sees and talks with. Dowd’s sister, Veta Louise Sim- mons, played by the dynamic Deidre Randall, tries to commit him to Chumley's Rest, a private sanitarium, and it is this conflict on which much of the story is based. Those who saw Harvey viewed masterful per- formances from all the players: Penny Seamons as Myr- tle Mae Simmons, Helen Newell as Miss Johnson, Mary Beth Chabot as Ethel Chauvenet, Mary Cutshall as Ruth Kelly, RN, John Dodge as Lyman Sanderson, Chris Thom as William Chumley, Tom Rallis as Judge Omar Gaffney, and Roland Lemire, a cab driver who at the play’s conclusion delivers the 'moral' of the story — who’s sane and who’s not. Congratulations to all those involved in the program for their fine efforts. Upper Left: Veta Louise (Deidre Randall) talks with brother Elwood (Alan Reynolds). Above: Ruth Kelly (Mary Cut- shall) confides with Dwayne Wilson (Scott Bowditch). l eft: Mary Cutshall as Ruth Kelly, John Dodge as Lyman Sanderson, and Chris Thom as William Chumley.
