Boutin 94 Class History To say that the Class of 1973 has left its mark on W. H. S. is certainly an understatement. Our scholas- tic, athletic, artistic, and dramatic abilities have perhaps contributed as much to the maturity, success and reputation of Winnacunnet, as the school has to the development of these talents. As entering freshmen, we quickly oriented ourselves to life at Winnacunnet. We really pushed for our princess Marcia McKinnon during Winnacamival under the leadership of Dave Kenney, Merry Jane Ken- ney, Pam Robbins, and Nancy Minutelli. We were also very proud of our freshmen football team as they were undefeated. By the end of the year we had recognized our potential and set out to fulfill it. Our sophomore year we elected Merry Jane Kenney, Doug Finan, Jane Ouellet, and Nancy Minutelli as officers. Under their leadership we began our money-making projects, ordered our class rings and worked hard to win the Winnacamival crown for our princess, Sue Copp. We didn’t succeed but we had high hopes for next year. As juniors we spent our busiest year under the leadership of Doug Finan, Patty Blackden, Pam Robbins, and Paula Ballentine. The athletic programs and football concession stand made welcome additions to our treasury. Next on the agenda was Winnacamival. We took first place in the poster competition with Amiee Margolis contributing her artistic ability. We earnestly supported our princess Mari Coellner. Following that we spent many busy nights preparing for the Junior Prom, one of the biggest nights of our high school years. The queen’s court consisted of Beth Allen, Mari Coellner, Cindy Freeman and Marlene Holderman. Our queen was Laurie DiBartolomeo. We were all looking forward to our senior year. At the beginning of our senior year we found many of our athletic squads returning from camp. This included our football team, our field hockey team, and the cheer leaders. Camp proved to be most benefi- cial to all. Class business ran smoothly under the leadership of John Koulopoulos, Tim Ricker, Pam Robbins, and Linda McCarter. Our advisors were Mrs. Bauer and Mr. Piepgrass. In the fall, the Exeter pep rally was one of the best ever held. Powderpuff came next, with all our girls working their hardest to win. Many long and hard hours were spent practicing, but the final score was Seniors 0 — Juniors 0. In December school spirit came alive with our basketball team winning the Christ- mas Tournament. We cannot forget our C.R.E.W. and all the spirit they added to school activities. This year, with the combined efforts of all the Seniors, we won Winnacamival by a landslide! Our prin- cess, Penny Palmer, was crowned queen at the Winnacamival dance, featuring the “Rainbow”. As a class we hope we have given every member lasting friendships and enduring memories, and that we have contributed significantly to the molding of individual character and citizenship. Throughout our four years, we have been aware of our fundamental goals. As we leave Winnacunnet, proud of our class, proud of our school and confident in ourselves. 95 SPORTS Soccer Varsity Soccer. Although W.H.S. outshot and outscored their opponents by a two to one margin, they just couldn’t come up with the big goal. Frustrating though it was, every player gave 100% through the desire to win, the drive to excel, and a great respect to the coaches, Burtis Vaughan and Don Foote. This Cross Country season may well have been one of the finest at W.H.S. Over the season the team accumulated eleven wins, two second places, and only one loss. In the First Annual Winnacun- net Invitational Cross Country Meet Winnacunnet soundly wrapped up first place. They continued strong and placed fourth in the N.H. State Cross Country Meet. Seniors Tim Kirwin and Dana Heath both qualified for the New England Cross Country Meet by placing sixth and tenth respectively in the State Meet. A spirit of cooperation ran from the coaches, Dave Deshon, Bullroar Pasquill and Paul Soucy to the captains, Eric White, Dick Ingram and John Hardardt and the rest of the players. The result was a 4-4-1 record and a lot of fine football. Eight boys on the squad were nominated for the All-State Team.
