. ■ One person to whom we owe much graditude is Mr. Elliot Rowsey. In his years at Winnacunnet High School, he has not only been an excellent Math teacher, but has advised four staffs in the production of their yearbooks. His patience and guidance is to be commended, and so to you, Mr. Rowsey, we dedicate the 1970 Sachem. 2 In memory of Stephen Philbrick and the 40,000 boys who have died in Vietnam. These three successfully led their team to six victories in eight games. Behind the rushing of Frank Fuller, who averaged a 7.2 yds. per carry, and had six touchdowns the Warriors were continuously victorious. The offense was also sparked by speedster Lee Ab- bott, who had a 3.9 average and who scored three touchdowns and Kim Dodge who scored six touch- downs and who struggled for 4.4 yards every time he received the ball. Coach Dave Deshon believes that a team's defensive play is a very important element in its winning formula. Coach Deshon states that if a team is not scored upon they cannot lose. The three men who carried the bulk of the defensive responsibility were )im Biron, in the line. Bob Cushing playing the linebacking role, and Bill Palmer, who continously stopped the opposition's aerial attack by intercepting passes. Bill Palmer also quarterbacked the team throughout the season. His game plan was for the most part a ground attack, however, he did complete three passes for the touchdowns. The Warriors scored 161 points as opposed to the 95 points of the opposing teams. The results of the games are as follows: Winnacunnet vs. Pinkerton Winnacunnet vs. St. Thomas Winnacunnet vs. Bishop Brady Winnacunnet vs. Dover Winnacunnet vs. Somersworth Winnacunnet vs. Exeter Winnacunnet vs. Concord Winnacunnet vs. Salem FRESHMEN FOOTBALL Mr. White - back-front G. Since then, several buildings have been acquired to start off this Restora- tion. In March 1970, the first building, the Phil- brick Blacksmith Shop, was moved to the Meeting House Green, which is the site of this project. When it arrived, it had about IB inches of dirt and iron pieces on the floor and con- tained an old forge and other tools of the trade. This is when the Winnacunnet High School Historical Society came to lend a hand. The club carefully sifted through the inches of dirt and found many artifacts such as pewter spoons, horseshoes, nails and harnesses. They stored these in the one room school house nearby to be catalogued later on. After this was completed, the club under the direction of Mr. Harold Fernald and Mr. Richard Mont- gomery, manually lifted the old forge out through the door of the shop and placed it near the schoolhouse where it now sits until the shop is finished. The next building, the Colonial Print Shop which was donated by the Toppan Family of Hampton, was delivered and has been recently restored. The Historical So- ciety came prepared with paint and brushes, this time to paint the outside, in keeping with the colonialization of the Restoration. In the meantime, the club erected the replica of the Hampton Academy, built in 1938 for the 300th Tercentenary of the town. The model was placed on a platform constructed by the mem- bers of the club, next to the schoolhouse. The shingling of the roof came next after which the steeple was added to give it the finished touch. This summer, when the restoration is finished, members of the Historical Society will act as guides throughout the restoration.
