Our Athletic teams have excelled: we have won recogni- tion in the spelling fieldg excellent plays have been presentedg many of our students have made many honor rollsg and this 1956 Winolequa is an example of the fine publication pro- duced throughout the year by the student body. You are tobe congratulated upon your achievements, and as you 'take your bow' for this recognition, do not discount the part that your parents, your faculty and your community have played in helping you attain these successes. Working and playing together we have had a happy, wonderful year. To the underclassmen, may our next years together be as happy and as full of achievement. To the Class of 1956 - may you attain the best in life. Remember Winlock High as your school and by your actions, keep us as proud of you as we are at this moment. To Mr. Hutson From the Class of 1956 Our high school years have swiftly passed We can't believe they're gone. We thank you for your guiding hand. That led us always on. You helped us carry out our plans: Pushed on through thick and thin. Though we wonied you at times You met us with a grin. You gave adviceg you simplified Our tasks and problems too. In all the ways we might succeed We owe our thanks to you. A THLETICS 5- Fifi' The 1955 Cardinal Football team was honored by winning the Associated Press award as the Mythical State B Class Football Champions in a poll conducted by the Washington Associated Press Writers. This honor was well deserved since the Cardinals defeated every team they faced this year to win the Lewis County League Championship for the second consecutive year. In doing so, during the past two and one half seasons Winlock has amassed a record of 23 victories without a defeat. This past season the Cards have run up a total of 305 points, holding their opponents to 40 points. for a 34 to 4 point average per game. To win the League Title as well as the State, Winlock de- feated the Trico League Champs Castle Rock 19 to O and Toledo 19 to 6. Toledo, prior to the game, was at the top of the Associated Press Poll. In most of the games this season the B squad was used during a good part of the games. This helped develop the under- classmen and should provide a nucleus for another outstanding team next fall. Team play and co-operation together with good coaching did the job.
