How infinitely poorer the world would be if it had to depend on you alone. But you share in all the gain of a thousand generations. People. Winkler Bible Institute is formed by a great variety of personalities; faculty, staff and students all uniting to form an interesting whole with a large diversity of interests, talents, and ap¬ pearances. m i mm l HHB ■ A, ft jfl B It , £ ■ r 1 ' lr% - }l ’ STUDENT COUNCIL (seated) Waldo Pauls, recreation chairman; Liz Wiens, secretary; Dan Doerksen, president; Eleanor Harder, yearbook editor; John B. Enns, literary chairman. (standing) Paul Hiebert, vice-president; Sam Nikkei, class president; Mr. J. H. Goossen, principal; Robert Kuhl, tr easurer; Fred Dyck, music chairman; Herb Heppner, drama director. Representing the students of W.B.I. the Student Council, led by our capable president — Dan Doerksen, discussed the various issues concerning student life and curriculum. Student Chapels, held every Friday, were planned by the council as well as the organization of the work day. WORK DAY A worK day was held in October in which all students participated cheerfully in spite of the cold weather. Washing windows, housecleaning, and doing other odd-jobs in the town of Winkler as well as helping on farms at home, in some cases, brought us sufficient funds to complete the payment on our stero in the co-ed lounge and buy a typewriter for the Student Council. Father Hanley Mr. Delbert Wiens Jo-anne Horton 1st row (L-R): Hilda Penner, Evelyn Heide, Alvena Neufeld, Eleanor Harder, Elfrieda Dueck, Erna Penner, Marlene Nickel, Betty Kasdorf, Esther Unrau, Irene Rempel, Anne Gosrtzen, Shirley Giesbrecht. 2nd row (L-R): Helga Pepneck, Ruth Dyck, Anne Wiebe, Paul Hiebert, Peter Hoeppner, Fred Dyck, Herb Heppner, Harvey Giesbrecht, Linda Loewen, Virginia Reimer, Lynda Kasdorf, Elizabeth Wiens. 3rd row (L-R): Robert Kuhl, Sam Nikkei, Rick Toews, Dan Unrau, Dan Doerksen, Walt Labun, Waldo Pauls, Peter Loewen, Bill Reimer, Gordon Peters, Gerald Gerbrandt, Nick Rovenko. Conductor: Mr. Harold Wiens. -1 MS II CHORISTERS MUSIC COMMITTEE (L-R): Fred Dyck, chairman; Peter Loewen; Hilda Lepp, secretary; Marlene Nickel, assistant chairman Similar to other instutions of its kind, Winkler Bible Institute has a well-developed musical department. The varied musical talents find expression in the Choristers and smaller musical groups. Continually the dormitories and administration building resound with “the sound of music”. I4 UM « % . ? The “School Daze”, the monthly publication of the literary committee provided an avenue of expression for the varied profound writings of “Pnielers”. Its publishing of the poetry, prose, and essays composed by us provided an enjoyable newspaper for the entire student body. ■■ ivn m km t . 1 ■ - i ■ i,V - RECREATION COMMITTEE (L-R) Irene Rempel; Bill Reimer; Victor Peters; Waldo Pauls, chairman; Harold Carter, assistant chairman; Rudy Lepp; Virginia Reimer, secretary. SPORTS Sports form an exhiliaration diversion from the sometimes routine line of studies The students of Winkler had opportunities to participate in volleyball, basketball football, and hockey teams besides the regular Tuesday and Thursday Gymn-nights. DRAMA COMMITTEE (L-R): Betty Kasdorf, assistant director; Evelyn Heide; Nicky Rovenko; Herb Heppner, director. The annual dramatic production of the W.B.I. stu¬ dents was the story of Helen Keller as portrayed in “The Miracle Worker”. This committee had the difficult as well as challenging role of choosing the cast and directing the drama. A vital aspect of the Christian life is active concern for and love of others. The Christian Service program of our school enables students to practise their Christian¬ ity by presenting devotional programs in local hospitals and homes for the aged, and by teaching Good News Clubs. CHRISTIAN SERVICE COMMITTEE (L-R): Elizabeth Wiens, chairman; Ruth Dyck, secretary; Gerald Gerbrandt, assistant chairman; Peter Hoeppner. A$v ■ ' w ■wm w i ..MM ..
