I ' riminii s m A writer has succinctly stated: “Education begins with discipline and ends in self-discipline.” The inference is that knowledge must be interpreted and applied in terms of life and that in the application of these truths influence human behaviour, mold personality and give direction of life. The precept is applicable to Christian education and the training which you have received. The acquisition and acceptance of biblical knowledge alone is not enough; it must be applied to all areas of the Christian life. By this process, the whole personality, conduct and outlook on life will be affected. Self-discipline and obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit are the prime prerequisites of the scripturally-oriented life. Motivated by love to God and fellowman, the fruition of the consecrated life will, un¬ doubtedly bring forth the spiritual graces, Phil. 1:10, 11. REV. JOHN H. GOOSSEN B.Sc., B.Th. Principal Pauline Epistles Acts Minor Prophets Church History German For all of us this has been a memorable year. The new Men’s Residence became a reality. The Missionary Conference and Youth Retreat have left indelible im¬ pressions. The Ontario Deputation and Camp Ames Retreat plus the many other activities have been experi¬ ences which will long remain in our memories. The Yearbook Committee has endeavoured to conserve some of these pleasant memories for us. For their splendid efforts, we heartily commend them. — J. H. Goossen 5

What have I got to say and will anyone read this message if I do find something? Like Moses, I wanted to pass the buck. Since Aaron, however, isn’t available, I’ll give you a little glimpse into my heart. It’s been an exciting year for me — grappling to define in practical terms the purpose of this school — debating how to achieve it — seeking God ' s way in difficult decisions. It ' s been exciting to see and hear of you in action — getting beat in volleyball by the ‘softies ' of the Homemakers Club — maiming your teacher in basketball — producing well at examination time — hosting the Missionary Conference so graciously — mixing with the people you meet on deputation trips — sharing your faith with others — enthusiastically participating in the life of the school — beginning a newspaper. I get the impression that you are having a meaningful year. I thank God for your initiative, responsiveness and growth, for your dedicated staff working almost around the clock to meet the challenges you throw at them and to threw some at you as well. I challenge you, also, to live a full and abundant life as you leave the WBI this spring, living your faith and sharing it in the power of Jesus Christ. A. D. We are looking for better methods, but God is looking for better men.” (E. M. Bounds) God has chosen to work through human vessels. I cannot afford to invest my life in every passing whim and fancy. I have but one life to invest. “Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy.” (Francis of Assisi) 6
