SUP ERINT ENDENT 'S MESSAG E Williarn Lyon Phelps expressed the way I feelabout teaching so much better than I can that I give you his words. I do not know that I could make entirely clear to an outsider the pleasure I have in teaching. I had rather earn my living by teaching than inany other way. Teaching is an art--an art so great and so difficult to master that a man or a woman can spend a long life at it without realizing much more than his lixnitations and mis take s and his distances from the ideal. There never has been in the world's history a period when it was more worth while to be a teacher than in the twentieth century: for there was never an age when such vast multitudes were eager for an education or when the ne ce s s ity of a liberal education was so generously recognized. l I I

g 1 I . 1 Oliver J. Bierschwale Elementary Principal William Ernest Henley has written, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul. What we will be tomorrow is determined by what w e are doing today, yet God has given each of us the power to shape his own destiny. May we realize the imp o r t anc e o I applying ourselves diligently today so that we will be better prepared for tomorrow, B. C. Henderson High School Principal As we come to the close of another school year, I have a feeling of satis- faction, in that, not only has know- ledge been acquired, but proper atti- tudes and ideals, which are so essen- tial in the we lfa r e and happiness of an individual, are well in the making. My thought then, to the students of Wink High School, is to seek the best, the worthy things of life, and become a part of all you have encountered. 171 I ,, f 1 - 1 fast? s 2- sw 1 vs . f.
