P.y1S-I 0,1 J ' XXVI I ' 5' .-u:-.u.u- fl' L:F WHAT WE DID unuor Hugh started her year s work at the begunnung of the fall term whuch opened September 7 We organuzed our classes wuth one hundred and seventy five students under the supervusuon of the Hugh School Pruncupal but the enrollment uncreased so rapudly that ut became necessary to separate unto a unut of our own and Mr Casey was elected to act as pruncupal of our department The socual part of the year began wuth the Halloween party on the last day of October There was every conceuvable kund of wutch and hobgoblun present even the boss of the vsorld below was present On November ll followung the custom of the school we gave a specual Armustuce Day program Several promunent speakers were present and the students attended un a body On November 19 we had our furst chapel program The Womanless Weddung The comedy was very enjoyable December 18 the faculty had theur first party at the Cafeterua un the form of a banquet From what we heard every one had a verv nuce tume On Tuesday afternoon before school closed for the Chrustmas holudays we had a wonderful Chrustmas party un the spacuous gsm There was a real Santa Claus present and plenty of candy nuts and almost enough fun Out a half day early' Of course we were very verv glad The teachers all hurrued home where they had ten days to get acquaunted wuth home folks agaun On March 20 June Brahamey was elected the May Queen for the Sprung Festuval guven by the gym gurls after two weeks race wuth two other very popular gurls of the seventh grade The contest netted S71 70 On March 21 the manual traunung classes put on a very nuce dusplay of theur woodwork On Aprul 1 some of us duscovered what dunces we really were uute a few had already decuded that a luttle work mught be un order and had set to work to prepare themselves for one of the greatest ew ents of the year the Interscholastuc League Contests whuch were held at Kermut and Alpune It was awfully hard because sprung weather was not conducuve to hard study especually un Wunk But we succeeded un wunnung the mauoruty of the contests of whuch we were very proud There was also the sprung pageant practuce But finally we were ready and the pageant vsas presented on Aprul 30 to uts usual large crowd of untcrested spectators May 15 the Home Economucs gurls gave an exhubutuon of theur work they had done durung the year Each gurl modeled the thungs she had made We duscovered that a great many of the Junuor Hugh gurls could sew vers well And then so soon that we could hardly realuze ut the year s work was over and summer vacatuon was before us Of course vue were glad the work was done but to us who held our seventh grade duplomas ut was sad, too, for we wull have to leave thus de partment to enter Hugh School un the fall to clumb a luttle hugher up the hull of knowl edge But taken all un all, ut was a gloruous year May there be manv more for Wunk Junuor Hugh School Page 85 X x1 '.l'f,, y 5 1 , I1 ,' 4 ' ' 'L f ,, N ' W u ' '- 1 7 tak' 'g .535 ' 8,11-Lf 7. ,- S , S . . , I . . . .
