THE END JUNIOR PLAY The Skeleton Walks by Felicia Metcalfe The story cakes place In an old house located on a small island. To this place come Elaine Blair, her lawyer-flance, and her mother to look over the property which Elaine Inherited at her uncle's death. To their surprise they find the house inhabited by a mysterious physician. Dr. Ferslg, his sinister housekeeper, and her deaf-mute son. The old house is worthless, but both Dr. Ferslg and Elaine know chat a large sum of money is hidden on the premises. Thinking Che visitors have left the island. Dr. Ferslg directs the deaf mute to blow up the only bridge to the mainland. But to his chagrin they return after having stopped at an old well on the island to eat a picnic supper. Because the bridge is destroyed, they decide to spend the night in the old house. Strange noises are heard. A skeleton walks through the dim shadows of the house. Elaine suddenly disappears. Bill, her fiance, makes a strange discovery. Down Che stairs descends a woman holding a dagger, threatening to kill Mrs. Embrey, Kinks, and Anne. The woman is stopped by Bobby who holds a broomstick. This woman is Mrs. Donahue who has lived in the house since her husband's death. Bill leads Elaine, who is in a trance, down the stairs. Later, after recovering. Bill and Elaine discover the hidden money behind loose brlckj in the fireplace. Dr. Ferslg enters, grabs the money box, and tries to escape. Mrs. Hubbard and her son, Ollle, scop him and reveal their identities as Jane and Jack Dow the famous detectives. The money is right- fully returned to Elaine and Dr. Ferslg is locked in jail. Lydia Martyn, Horatio's sister, is still mourning for her brother. Agnes Martyn who is on vacation sends word home to her children chat she's bringing home a big surprise, a BIG surprise !! The surprise is Agnes' fiance, Mr. Henry Turner. Agnes' three children, Bob, Marilee, and Grade work up a plan to stop Mr. Turner from marrying their mother. Bob throws a conniption fit, Marilee calks baby-talk and Grade plays practical jokes on Mr. Turner. Henry'8 two children, Sammie and Doris have plans of their own. Sammie Is a kleptomaniac and a lunatic. Doris calks about her appendicitis operation and has nervous habits. The riot continues after everyone finds out that Henry and Agnes are already married. Henry and Agnes catch on to their schemes and decide to outwit their children. Agnes leads her children to believe that she is penniless, and Henry convinces his child- ren chat he has been disinherited. The children alter their plans and try to keep their parents together for financial reasons. After Agnes and Henry confront their children, they decide to forgive them and remain together as one big Ready-Made Family . Agnes Martyn.................Mary K.
