JUNIOR PLAY Betty Udelhoven and Rusty Wayne, Rick, Betty, and Rusty The Junior Class play, the Courtship of Eddie's Father, was presented on November 18 and 19. The play begins as Tom Corbett comes home from a trip. His son, Eddie, has been staying at Tom's sister's home and is expected home in the morning. Soon after Tom arrives he has a series of visitors which includes Elizabeth, the pretty nurse who lives across the hall and his partner, Norm, with his date, Rita. Rita, a rich, snobbish young girl, falls for Tom immediately and finally gets a date from him. Eddie arrives home unexpectedly and he and his father have a joyous re- union. Elizabeth is still there and puts Eddie to bed. Eddie considers Elizabeth his best friend and makes plans to get his father and Elizabeth together. In the grocery store Eddie and his father meet Miss Montana and it seems to Eddie that his father really likes her. He also meets Rita, who he dislikes instantly, and decides that no one will do but Elizabeth. At summer camp Eddie runs away because he is afraid that his father will marry Rita. During this time Tom has told Rita that he wants her to leave him alone. Elizabeth then comes over to his apartment and they await word of Eddie. Eddie comes home and confesses that he ran away because of Rita. Elizabeth leaves and Eddie tells his father that he should propose to Elizabeth and pretends to be her so that his father can practice proposing. Elizabeth walks in on this scene and at the end of the proposal she lets on that she is there and accepts Tom's proposal. Rusty, Laurie, and Connie Mrs. Owings directing the play 15
