M. Bergum by dedi- cating our annual in his honor. We feel that the help and guidance he has given us over the past years will be an asset to us in the years to come. As members of Mr. Berg- um's last graduating class, we would like to wish him many prosperous and happy future years in this community. Senior Class 1967 3 Principal's Message The school year nineteen sixty-six and sixty-seven has been a very busy one. Winifred High School students have made marked progress in scholarship and related activities . They have sensed the importance of hard work to better prepare themselves for the very competitive world awaiting them beyond high school and college years. The organization of a successful Student Council this past year is a high light in responsible student living and government. This eagerness to do better is also reflected in the pages of this annual or yearbook. The staff members and their advisor are to be congratulated for a job well done. Sincere good wishes to a fine graduating class. Theodore M. Bergum 4 SCHOOL BOARD Back row, 1 to n Palmer Seilstad, George Carr, Albert Benes. The Season The 1966 football season was a success for the Raiders, they com- piled a 4-2, won-loss record and finished in third place in conference play. This years squad was in good shape with eight returning lettermen. Reporting for practice were seven freshmen, six sophomores, three juniors, and five seniors. The returning lettermen elected Jack Heggem and Dave Wickens, Co- Cap tains for the year. The Raider's season looked bright and they were hoping for the confer- ence championship until the first game with Moore when Bruce Udel- hoven and Rusty Robinson, both first-string halfbacks, were side- lined for the season with leg injur- ies, two freshmen, Rick Bergum and Joe Wickens, came up and did a tremendous job in replacing these two for the remainder of the season. Student Council, a new organization this year, was set up by the Senior Class under the supervision of Mr. Daniels. They wrote the constitution and rules for the election of officers with the consent of the student body. Officers were elected in November with a primary and general election. After the election, two representatives from each class were elected in the homerooms. Duties of Student Council include: settling class disputes, organizing student acti- vities, making an activities calendar, providing a median between teachers and stu- dents, arranging for special school activities, and punishing students who disobey school rules. This organization has been very effective this year and has done much for the betterment of the school. The play begins as Tom Corbett comes home from a trip. His son, Eddie, has been staying at Tom's sister's home and is expected home in the morning. Soon after Tom arrives he has a series of visitors which includes Elizabeth, the pretty nurse who lives across the hall and his partner, Norm, with his date, Rita. Rita, a rich, snobbish young girl, falls for Tom immediately and finally gets a date from him. Eddie arrives home unexpectedly and he and his father have a joyous re- union. Elizabeth is still there and puts Eddie to bed. Eddie considers Elizabeth his best friend and makes plans to get his father and Elizabeth together. In the grocery store Eddie and his father meet Miss Montana and it seems to Eddie that his father really likes her. He also meets Rita, who he dislikes instantly, and decides that no one will do but Elizabeth. At summer camp Eddie runs away because he is afraid that his father will marry Rita. During this time Tom has told Rita that he wants her to leave him alone. Elizabeth then comes over to his apartment and they await word of Eddie. Eddie comes home and confesses that he ran away because of Rita. Elizabeth leaves and Eddie tells his father that he should propose to Elizabeth and pretends to be her so that his father can practice proposing. Elizabeth walks in on this scene and at the end of the proposal she lets on that she is there and accepts Tom's proposal. The entire action of the play took place in the living room of the Brewster home in Brooklyn during the 1940's. Miss Martha and Miss Abby Brewster, two lovely old ladies, who have the respect of the Brook- lyn police force, live with their nephew Teddy Roosevelt , who is mentally disturbed, in the Brewster Mansion. Miss Abby and Miss Martha have a little charity which disturbs their nephew Mortimer when he discovers the outcome of their kindness to their lonely fellows. Mort- imer tries to protect them, but matters are complicated when Jonathan, Mortimer’s horrible brother, after many years absence, returns to the Brewster Mansion with the plastic surgeon Dr. Einstein. Mortimer turns Jonathan over to the police and he persuades Martha and Abby to go to Happy Dale with Teddy and Mr. Witherspoon; that is until Jonathan throws a challenge to the ladies. Mortimer gets the lovely Elaine Harper and the Brewster Mansion goes to the church.
