CLASS HISTORY In September of 1962, twelve fearful, but determined freshman entered the halls of Winifred High School to begin a four year treck of good times and knowledge. The class began with eight boys-Lenard Carson, Arlie Christensen, Cary Dosher, Dick Foster, Spencer Peterson, Doug Skinner, Gene Thompson, and Howard Tuss. The four girls were Linda Fluegel, Judee Smith, Marie Gonzales, and Mary Ann Tresch. The officers were decided upon and the results were President-Dick Foster, Vice-President- Gary Dosher, Secretary-Marie Gonzales, and Treasurer-Howard Tuss. Mr. Eugene Comas was chosen as our sponsor. Marie and Gary were our Homecoming candidates and Judee Smith was our candidate for Carnival Queen. When we returned in the fall of '63 as Sophomores we found that Marie had left us and that Gary was soon going to leave. To lead our class, chosen were Howard-Pres- ident, Gary-Vice-President, Mary Ann-Secretary, and Dick as Treasurer. Our class sponsor for that year was Mr. Sauvageau. To compete for Gridiron King and Queen were Gene and Mary Ann. Judee was our candidate for Carnival Queen. Once again we returned to W. H. S. to begin our Junior Year. To keep in order the class duties were President-Howard, Vice-President-Dick, Secretary-Judee, and Treasurer-Mary Ann. Mr. Harold Knodel was chosen as class sponsor. Homecoming Candidates were Mary Ann and Howard. Mary Ann gained the honor of Homecoming Queen for that year, giving the class a little more status. Linda was candidate for carnival Queen that year. They worked hardat putting on a successful prom. IN THE MISTY MOONLIGHT, to honor the graduating Seniors. The Junior-Senior banquet was arranged with the combined efforts of the class and determined a success. Our major duty that year was to publish the Prairie Dog Chatter. With our combined efforts we managed to present our Junior Play, Teen-age Millionaire. We began our final year of high school determined to make the most of it. Chosen to lead the class were Gene-President, Dick-Vice-President. Judee-Secretary, and Mary Ann-Treasurer. Our sponsors were Mr. Bergum and Mrs. Wilson. Chosen for our candidates for Gridiron King and Queen were Judee and Howard. Judee gained the honor of Gridiron Queen for that year. Linda also gained the honor of Carnival Queen that year. In basketball, Lenard, Gene, Howard, and Spencer made a fine showing and we brought home the third place trophy at the tournament. Under the direction and hard work of Mrs. Owings we were able to produce a comedy-Hillbilly Courtship. Mary Ann Tresch received the Homemakers of tomorrow award. Upon Graduation, our years in high school a success, we ventured out to see what the world would hold for us. 13

VALEDICTORIAN Now that I am a senior, I realize the importance of the years that are behind me. As students in High School, we sometimes don't make the most of our education. There is no lime like the present to really start studying. Start when you're freshman and don't slack off. When you are a senior and they're averaging the four years grades and yours are low its to late then to start worrying. Now is the time to prepare your- self for the years ahead of you. Best luck to all the underclassmen. SALUTATORIAN When graduation comes you are out of school and have to start out on your own. This is a big step toward getting along in the world. I would like to say to the incoming freshman to get the most out of school be- cause it goes faster than you think and isn't as hard if you start at the beginning. To the Juniors, I would like to say, to start thinking of what you want to do when you get out because that Senior year is a short one. 12

CLASS WILL I, Lenard Carson, will my center position on the football team to Paul Seilstad, and my ability to get along with the coach to Jack Heggem. I, Arlie Christensen, will my height to Wilma Tuss, weight to Dennis Heggem, curly hair to any- one who wants it, my ability to get out of school work to Deanna Bergum, and my muscles to Mike Lechner. I, Dick Foster, will my ability to forget to shave to Mike Meckling, and my ability to sleep in to any tired fellow who needs it. I, Linda Fluegel, will my night life to anyone who thinks they can keep up with it, my position in Octette to Betty Thompson, my fondness of English to Wayne Carlstrom, and my ability to skip school to Karen Schaeffer, Louie Tresch, and Rita Wickens. I, Spencer Peterson, will my quiet ways to Nancy Wickens, and my ability to get along with Mr. Schmitt to anyone who wants to try. I, Doug Skinner, will my T. V. set to Arnold Olsen and my parties to Gus Anderson. I, Judee Smith, will my blonde hair and cowboy friends to Nancy Asbjomson, my muscles to Gus Anderson, my role as teachers pet to Sharon Foster, and the various offices I've held to any Freshman. I, Gene Thompson, will my parties to Norwood Roberts, my ability to get along with most of the girls to Dean Chromey, my ability to fool around with cars to Duane Phillips, my football ability to Paul Seilstad, and my ability to run around to anyone that can take it. I, Mary' Ann Tresch, will my short skirts to Betty Thompson, my good times to anyone who thinks they can keep up with it, and my Octette position to Louie Tresch. I, Howard Tuss, will my basketball ability to Norwood Roberts, my ability to play football to Paul Seilstad, speed to Rodney Stulc, and my ability to get along with the teachers to anyone who thinks they can. 14
