The selection of these students was based on leadership, co-operation, ability to speak, honesty, citizenship and scholarship. The purpose of this educational program is to teach young people how the local and state governments func- tion, by setting up model governments in which they can participate. Montana Girls' State was held on the campus of Montana State College in Bozeman and Montana Boys' State was held on the campus of Western Montana College of Dillon.
