In September, 1954, 18 shy but determined freshmen entered the golden gates of Winifred High School. They were Jack Brooks, Sandra Philp, Noble Hamilton, Judy Udelhoven, David Kucera, Lou- is Miros, Jim Moody, Sharon Sawyer, Leo Wherley, John Carr, Ken Walling, Tom Walling, Ed Jones, Bob Olsen, Frank Arthur, John As- bjornson, Ray Asbjornson and Roland Reppe. They survived initiation and all the learning poured into their heads during the first year and thus became sophomores. In September, 1955, the same group, less shy and more deter- mined again entered the halls. They got revenge for initiation and more learning was poured into their already full heads, as they climbed the ladder to graduation. In September, 1956, they found themselves again at the door and again it opened. This year they were minus Ed Jones and Bob Ol- sen, but they gained Helen Duvall and John Hunt. This was a year full of excitement and fun. They published the paper and presented the play, Everybody's Crazy, and danced at their prom, Blue Moon. ” In September, 1957, (that long awaited senior year) they came back to enter those doors for their last year in Winifred High School. They were only 16 in number as they had lost Leo Wherley and Helen Duvall. This year they presented the senior play, Hillbilly Wed- din', and published the annual. They were guests at the annual Jun- ior-Senior banquet. Then came graduation and the knowledge that their careers as high school students had ended. With elation, yet a touch of sadness, they parted to take their various places in the world.
