Her ambition is to be a nurse. Delores Dranky, who has always been liked, has been a valuable member of her class for four years. Delores says her ambition is to become a Dental Technician. Sam Econom, the Romeo of his class, is well known for the part he played in sports and the mischief he can get into. He plans to enter college and study business administration. Eva Ruth Moody, who is the most industrious member of the class, has been a favorite of both students and teachers through her twelve years of school. Her ambition is to own a ranch. Garde Peterson, president of the class of '52 and editor of the Pioneer says his ambition is to own a ranch. Glenn Rydeen is known for his ability to talk himself in and out of trouble. His plans for the future are rather hazy but he thinks the army might play a part in them. Ted Sawyer has been an outstanding basketball and football player during his career at Winifred High School. He is our only four year letterman. Ted would like to attend school when he graduates. Bertha Simac, secretary-treasurer of the class of '52 and editor of the Prairie Dog Chatter, would like to enter business upon graduation. Ted Thompson, who is the vice president of the class of '52 is known for his good person- ality and humorous ways. Ted says his ambitions have not been revealed in his crystal ball but farming might play a part. Doris Waits is best known for her pretty long hair and her cheerleading ability. Doris has been thinking about nurse's training after she graduates from Winifred High School. Senior Class Will We, the graduating class of 1952 of Winifred High School being of sound mind and body do hereby will and bequeath our most treasured possessions. Glenn Rydeen leaves his shyness to Vernon Smith and his ability to win friends and in- fluence people to Leroy Walton. Doris Waits leaves her Toni to Hilton Hess and her ability to drive a Mercury to who- ever can gain one. Ted Thompson bequeaths his pet grasshopper’s chitin to Mr. Romstad. Ted Sawyer wills his ability to gain excused permits for afternoon walks to George Econom. Delores Dranky wills her ability to entertain servicemen to the U. S. O. Garde Peterson wills his punctuality to Diane Heller and his wicked ways to Ted Scoville. Bertha Simac wills her hatred of spotlights to Bonnie Thompson and her cheerleaders swing to Bonnie Hess. Sam Econom wills his ability to cooperate with teachers to Bill Carr and his touch? with the gals to his brother Tom. To the student body he leaves! Eva Ruth Moody wills her place at Girl’s State to Hilton Hess and her boy charming abil- ities to Betty Fuller. Four long years ago our class entered the high school. Added to our eighth grade class, which consisted of Ted Thompson, Garde Peterson, Sam Econom, Delores Dranky, Bertha Simac and Eva Ruth Moody, were Leah and Tom Benes, Ted Sawyer, and Doris Waits. As Sophomores we lost Leah and Tom Benes and gained Glenn Rydeen. Our sponsor was Tex Olson. Class membership in our Junior year remained the same. The name of our Junior Play was Tom Sawyer” and the theme of our prom and our Junior-Senior Banquet was Stardust. Never, in our opinion, did any Junior Class do so well. Our sponsor was Mr. Joe Vantura. At the second semester of our Senior year we gained Betty Arthur from the Junior Class as she was graduating in three years. After a successful year under the sponsor- ship of Mr. Bergum we put away our books and passed for the last time as students through the portals of Winifred High School. We had written our slate, our high school days were over, the world was ours to conquer. Senior Class Prophecy In 1969 when I conducted a campaign tour for my present office as Governor of Montana, I had the pleasure of seeing my classmates of Winifred High School, Class of 1952, in their various communities. Whei. 1 stepped from the platform of my train at Butte, I was greeted by Glenn Rydeen who i.s now the President of the Anaconda Copper Mining Co. Glenn told me that he achieved this high position by remaining single and industrious. After I made my Butte stop, I again ran into an old classmate of mine who was engaged in a most unusual occupation. This classmate was Betty Arthur who is the nation's only woman railroad engineer. Betty had been engaged as the engineer on my train because she had voiced her opposition to my election and her employer, Ted Sawyer, who is the head of the Great Northern Railroad Company and my campaign manager, thought it would be a joke on Betty to be running the train that might aid me to gain the Governor's seat. The next stop on my tour was Great Falls, where I was greeted by Mrs. Archibald Brinker- snapper in, who was the former Bertha Simac. Bertha was accompanied by a group of women who represented the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Dumb Animals. They with their President, Bertha, had come to ask my stand on the position of homeless dogs and cats. On route to Billings from Great Falls my train was boarded by Miss Delores Dranky, a very eminent reporter for the Gazette. Delores had been assigned the task of reporting my tour and remained with me throughout the trip. She had been selected for the Pulitzer Prize in 1967. On our arrival in Billings I was invited to the home of Garde Peterson who had gained a fortune by raising a new strain of jackrabbits to compete with Ted Thompson of Winifred who had captured the slaughtering market by raising a better type of meat producing steer. Garde and Mrs. Peterson had planned to show us the sights of Billings at night, but were unable to engage a baby sitter for their eleven children. However, Delores and I went to the floor show at the Star Light Roof. Much to our amazement and pleasure, we discovered Miss Venus de la Fleur, who in 1952 before her debut on Broadway was Miss Doris Waits. Doris had become a famous torch singer and had currently played in the 20th Century Fox production of Strawberry Creek. Before returning to Helena, I stopped at Miles City to see Eva Ruth Moody who had become the leader of a political movement to unseat my opponent from the Governor's chair. With- out her support I could not have attained my present post. Eva had moved to Miles City to take over the Industrial School which had proved to be a headache to so many in years past.
