Our hope is that you will measure up to all our expectations and that we will always be proud of you. --THE ADMINISTRATION STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council is the goveming body of the school, consisting of stu- dent-selected representatives from each junior and senior high school class. Not only is each member responsible for participation in the regular weekly business meetings, but is a chairman of one of the student standing committees in which he conducts outside the council chambers. Under faculty guidance, the council sponsored all entertainment shows, athletic events, Christmas Decoration and Achievement Day Poster contests, Junior High School Basketball Tournament, All School Benefit, several school assemblies, and the pop corn concession during the school year. Each student has general training in the different fields through the tenth grade. At the beginning of his junior year, he decides upon which field he wishes to major in, vocational or academic. If he chooses academic, he will spend his last two years in aca- demic studies. lf vocations are his choice, he will spend half of his time in his chosen vocation and half in the classroom during his junior year and three-fourths in his vocation and one-fourth in the classroom during his senior year. The vo- cational major follows studies in the classroom that are correlated with his shop work. XNG CRAFT L ka ,A ROW 1: Tom Montoya, bakingg Ruby Webster, head of Home Economics Department. The Home Economics Department offers training in all phases of homemaking, and the dormitories prepare interested students for jobs as matrons and dormitory attendants. The upperclass vocational girls learn to operate the switchboard in the main office. Boys may major in any of the vocations pictured here.
