IN WITNESS WHEREOFx le have hereunto set our hands and seals on this 12th day of lay in the year f o our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and fifty five flu efgf-5,4 -are 'T'03.w 6.061 SENIOR CLASS HISTORY On September of 1951 we assembled in the stud hall room and found there were 36 highly excited freshmen After being in school for several weeks and getting adjusted to the sched ule and the teachers we decided it , was time to call a class meeting and choose a sponsor Hr Livin st Z 1 several bake sales For our Chr1stmas party Mr and Mrs Livingston gave us a chile supper Lola Davis, Joan Powelson, and Anna Mae Beckemeyer were members of the girls' basketball team, Bill Holmes and Duaine Blackmore made the boys' team Loyce East, Ethel Lou Argent, and Helen Reese were chosen to be cheer leaders Coming back for our Sophomore year, we were sorry to discover that our class only numbered twenty six Nevertheless, we were looking forward to a good time during the year This year we chose lr and Hrs Hobson to be our sponsors Durlng the year we worked hard on several bake sales We had a chicken soup supper at Jim Houston's, a chile supper and Chrlst mas party, a hayride, and a party at Jackie Johnson'e Lola Davls, Ethel lou Argent, Loyce East, and Helen Reese were the cheer leaders Joan Powelson and Anna Nae Be k c emeyer made the girls' basketball team Bill Holmes and John Dixon made the boys' basketball team B111 Ho e year at the graduation exercises Lola Anne Davis was awarded th S e ophomore Pilgrimage to Jefferson City for outstanding scholarship and citizenship lmes received the cit1zenship award for th History Continued Next Page I . . , g on was chosen. Our Junior year was a busy one We had twenty-four class members Mr and Lrs Hobson, our sponsors, helped us make money for our Senior trip by having baked sales and two movies During the year we o dered our rings and were very excited when they arr1ved Again Loyce East, Ethel Lou Argent, and Lola Davis were cheerleaders with a new member, Anna Mae Beckemeyer Lola, Anna Mae, Joan P , Sherry T , Bill Holme and John Dixon were on the basketball teams Lola Davis received the citlzenship award for the year We had our annual chicken soup at Jimm Houston's Also we had a chile supper, a Christmas party, and a hay ride At the end of our Junlor year we went to St Louis This proved to be a very eventful day, we saw Cinerama and a movie at 1pwe's State, and we went to the highlands and the zoo In September 19514, we returned for our Senior year vuth 21 class members Mr Hellyer was chosen as our class sponsor our colors are red and white, our flower 15 the red carnation, and our motto is Wwe Finish to Begin' The Seniors that were on the basketball teams are Joan Powelson, Anna M Beckemeyer, Lola Davis, Sherry Taylor, Bill Holmes, Duaine Blackmore, John D1XOU, and Kenneth Bala Deanna Sitton was chosen as Queen of the Senior Class and 18 also Student Councll President Lola Davis was the Vice President of the Student COHDC11 for the year Anra M Beckemeyer and John Prosser are S C Representatives from our class Ethel L Argent was selected ae the Queen's attendant from the Senlor class loyce East, Anna M Beckemeyer, Ethel Lou Argent, Jerry Birkhead, and John Dixon have attended school at Winfield since they were 1n the f1rat grade Anna Mae, Joan P , and Bill Holmes have been on the basketball team during the four years they have attended high school Our class officer for the year are Ethel Lou Argent Vice President Deanna Sitton Secretary Lola Davis Treasurer John Dixon Reporter Other class members are Anna 'ae Beckemeyer, Jerry Birkhead, Kenneth Bals, Duaine Blackmore, Loyce East, B111 Holmes, James Houston, Connie Hoelting, Jackie Johnson, Elmer Murphy, Joan Powelson, Sherry Taylor, and Loyd Groshong I U O I r ' . . . . s, . .
