'I I 0 x xl X14-if . -if SUPERI TE DE T'S ESSAGE John Ruskin says, Education does not mean teaching people to know what they do not know. It is teaching them to behave as they do not behave. lt is training them into the perfect excercise of the kingly continuance of their bodies and souls. Education is a whole set of changes produced in a person by learning. The ed- ucated person has higher ideals, better control of his emotions, a friendly spirit, and intelligent purposes. An educated person must have an accumulation of facts, and it is important that he know thoroughly the meaning of these facts. We are reminded of the grim warning by Alexander Pope in his poem an Essay on Criticism. A little learning is a dangerous thing, Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian Spring: There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, And drinking largely sobers us again. g The dominant idea of Winfield City School's is service through education. The entire resources of the institution are dedicated to this purpose. j. J .T. Bozeman 8 Superintendent
