Class Prophecy The quiet babbling of the creek was music to my ears after a hard day of work, so I made my way across the cool green meadow which lay behind the barn- yard and took the path which led to this favorite spot. In the years since my graduation from Winfield High, I had settled down to up the hobby of writing books. It was at this like to start on another volume which would I hadn't yet picked out the topic to be used, write, I wrote to satisfy this whim. a comfortable life and had taken time that I had decided that I'd bring the total number to five. but whenever I had the desire to land had taken on the hue of freedom and lei- It was spring again and the sure that made one reminisce of the days when he was free to start out on this life of ours to make it a success or a failure. It was then that I thought Of using one of the careers of one of my classmates for the back ground of the book. I then began to review the careers of the class of l19 for the material needed. It would be a book on what life held for a graduate with good ambi- tions. Kay Snell is now nurse in the hospital of Burlington, Evelyn Chrisinger is welfare worker in the Des Moines Welfare Center and doing much for her share in societyg Geraldine Nan has authority over the fourth grade in Mt. Pleasant, Doris King has made herself a wonderful house wife for another acquaintance of mine, Clayton Rabedeaux, knovm as Pug in high school, is now coach in West Falls, Indiana with a team that has an unbeaten record up to the present time, Marjorie Martin owns a large dude ranch in Colorado, her main interest being in horses and cattle which she enters in rodeosg Arlene Chrisinger took up the career of a cosmetician in Des Moines and has made herself famous in that field. Some successful farmers of this community are Donnie Haines and Bob Camby, both of whom have their ovm farms. Wilma Hunter is a secretary for a large clothing firm in Chicago, another classmate doing secreterial work is Norma Conard, her position being in Ottumwag another who is in work along this line is Naomi Max- well. She did bookkeeping for her dad after graduation, then changed to do the same for her better-half. The commercial field seemed to be a popular vocation, for others who are successiml in it areg Bonnie Crawford as bookkeeper in Washington D. G., Jim Telford as manager of the Cudahay Packing Plant and Ronnie Young with his own cleaning establishment to operate. Winfield's big business man is the banker, none other than Roger Williams. Out of our class came an artist, Pat Mason who after college graduation took up the position of art instructor in the school here. Among the famous Journalists of the country ranks Tom Patterson with his paper 'The Chicago Herald . The variety of careers even extends to the air, for the former Norma Maxwell is a stewardess on a Montana airline where her husband, Jim Finch, is a radio operator on the same plane. Their home is in Butte, Montana. Betty Hunter spent two years in E1 college, then joined Geraldine in the same school only to teach the kindergarten. The former Lola Windland resides in Winfield as a house wife and mother of two fine youngsters. That concluded the review of careers but now was the question of which one I would use in my book. Each successful and happy with his job, that made it hard to decide. A cool breeze sprung up suddenly and awakened me to the thought that it was time to go in and get supper, so I left, my book not started, and went to the house to finish my own tasks. 11
