would really have something to talk about When I finally chose the hat that best su1ted my personallty, I accidentally noticed the trade mark inside, which read 'Dobbs' designed by Dorothy Ann Doyle Could this posslbly be my h1gh school class mate? I inquired and one of the clerks told me that field, Iowa and now had established quite a buslness hats here in New York I would have enjoyed talking 1D order to make my appointment at the beauty salon. Dorothy was formerly from Win of deslgnlng clothes as well as to her, but I had to hurry on Betty Gruver was manager and instructor of the salon She was out to lunch when I arr1ved and she hadn't return ed when I was ready to leave Much to my disappointment I was unable to talk to her It seemed as though I got in the noon rush on Broadway as it took me until 12100 o'clock to get back to the Paramount Hotel for my luncheon date w1th Let1tia I rushed in, thlnking she would surely be waitlng on me, but as usual Letitla late agazn I sat down to rest my weary bones and walt on her It was 12:15 she arrived and she expla1ned to me that some business difficulties arose and was before they had taken longer than she had expected we ordered our lunch and sat talking old times when we were back in Winfleld High School Let1t1a glanced up to see Kenneth Ha1nes and Bob Lindell walk into the dinlng room They noticed us almost as soon as Letitia had seen them They over our high school days Kenneth and that happy go lucky air of h1s and also a favorite wlth the ladies. Work still stand he has a wonderful ball team. sat down at our table and helped us to talk Bob are both coaches Kenneth still has his infectious smlle which has made him quite doesn't bother Bob too much, but we under Before Ke neth and Bob left Letitia told us that Caroline was employed in the hotel as telephone operator. I would have to make a special effort to see Caroline As I was to meet my husband at 1:50, Letitia and I brought our chat to a close and bid each other farewell. When I reached my hotel suite my husband hadn't arrived, so I picked up the morning newspaper Nothlng much of interest seemed to be in it until I noticed a headline which read NMISS Ralston presents concert' Could this possibly be another classmate? Sure but it seemed as One The column playing, just as I had anticipated enough it was At 8:00 o'clock she was presenting a concert, though everyone was going and tlckets weren't available for every further said that Madeline had acquired great fame for her piano Just as I finished reading the article about Madeline, my husband arrived, so we im ediately left to attend the fair I had thought the noon rush was a jam, but this was worse yet we V18lt9d nnny exhibits and my husband was particularly interested in the engineering de partment. He brought to my attention one of the engineerlng exhibits which was more outstanding than the others I looked more closely and discovered it was a fete of Dean Sligh Dean had also made a success of himself While we were still admiring it, who should step up, but Dean I talked with him for several m1nutes and he told me that the last he had heard, Margorie Werner was married and was llving in Oregon. My husband and I took 1n all the wonderful and 1nterest1ng th1ngs at the fair that were possible for the remalnlng tlme we had before mak1ng our return trip to Denver As we returned to our hotel that evenlng, memorles came back to me and I recalled that this short stay 1n New York had brought about word from all my graduat ing class of 1947 It made me feel a little sad to think that we would probably never all be together agaln, but at the same time I was proud to th1nk that all of m classmates had been successful in the type of work that they had seen f1t to choose The next day, we boarded our huge a1rl1ner and returned to Denver refreshed in mlnd and body 13 . . - , ' . . . - 0 of if time permitted. 0 , . . . , . . . CLASS PROPHECY I glanced at my watch five mlnutes to five I had just five more minutes to await the arrlval of m plane I was reading a preview of the New York's World Fair whlch I was planning to attend, whe they annou ced the arr1val of my plane A once I p1cked up my coat and purse and walked to the ramp of the plane Here I was greeted by a cheerful air l1ne hostess, who, at once I realized was h8TJOY16 McCu1ley I proceeded to my seat, and after Marge had faithfully completed her ta ks, she sat down beslde me and we chatted about old tlmes. I explained that I was on my way to New York Clty, where my husband had gone to see about some new materials for his business Margorle informed me that on the prevlous day, Joe Klop fenste1n, Llndy Chr1s1nger, and Clarence Chrissinger had left for New York City via the sane plane to enter some of their livestock in the fair I rem mbered how it had bee Lindy's ambition to be a good farmer Marge said the tr1p to Chicago had been very eventful, considerlng the fact that Llndy was still talkative and that Clarence st1ll possessed his wit Joe sa1d there was no Mrs Klopfenstein, and I remembered how bashful he always was around girls. Before I realized it, we were landing at the Ch1cago airport where I would have to board another plane for New York City I was sorry to say good bye to Marge as it had been n1ce talking to her. After landing, I went lnto the station and inquired about my next plane, which I found would leave in f1ftee minutes Th1s gave me t1me to relax before renewing my Journey I decided to go outdoors and awa1t the remainlng few minutes I not1ced a familiar figure walklng towards one of the planes Sure enough, was Walter Aspelmeier, another old classmate I walked nearer and to my surprise didn't recognize me until I boldly walked up to him and introduced myself Walt was amazed to see me there and I explalned the reason, and then he proceeded to tell me that he was now married and employed by the axrport as a mechanic He had his face bandaged but he quickly related how there had been an accident while work1ng on an a1rplane, and that he hadn't acqu1red lt the way he got his scratches in school days He informed me that another classmate, Junior Mohr, would be a pilot of the plane carrylng me to Lew York We halted our conversation as it was departing time for m plane and Walt had a great deal of work to do some he looked in h1s u iform It brought back memories of how Junior had been a star on our football team Agaln I proceeded to my seat and anxiously awaited a ment I coulc talk to Junior hldway, on our trip, he came back and talked to me Jun1or's chlldhood dreams of becomlng a pilot had come true, and he seemed to be in his heighth of glory Slnce lt was almost t1me for Junior to take the controls a galn he bid me good bye. When I stepped off the plane at New York City I was greet ed by ng husband Upon arrlval at our hotel, I immedlately retired as it had been a weary day The next morn1ng I arose early, as th1s was golng to be a very busy day indeed. On the prev1ous day my husband had placed an appolntment for me with the dentist at nlne and one at the beauty salon for eleven After breakfast I thumbed through a booklet issued by the hotel A headline brought my attention to a familiar name whlch I quickly comprehended to be that of Letitia Kneen I read on further to learn that Let1t1a was manager of the hotel where I was staylng. I found her number and dialed it As luck would have 1t, she answered After a lengthy conversation she asked me to lunch with her, and we planned to meet in the dining room of the hotel at 11l45e It was exactly 9:00 o'clock when I reached the dentist's office so I wouldn't have to walt After the secretary took my name, I stepped into the inner office. At once I recogn1zed the dental assistant as Marllyn WIISOD She told me that she had been worklng for Dr Bryan for almost three years After the necessary work was finlshed I chatted w1th Iarllyn several mlnutes Glancing at my watch, I de cided to be on my way. After leavlng the offlce, I decided to gander up and down Broadway, taking in some of the glorlcus slghts that Broadway is noted for As usual, I found myself wandering around 1ns1de an exoulslte hat shop If the men could only see this they .
