Q ' x ------..-H Un Class History of 1946 Thirteen years ago last fall eleven members of the class of 1946 started their education under the supervision of Mrs Bessie Miller Metzger That group included Paula renn, Nalter Hatton, Carmen Kongable, Beverly Lindell, Lauretta Mohr, Ralph McCray, Marvel gawhouser, Junior Rickey, Myers Rosslter, Shirley Simpson, and Martha wan The class proceeded to the first grade without any change 1 enrollment and was under the leadership of Mrs Nell Siberts Gorham Mrs Maxine Wnolnms Kurka guided the class through the second grade Janet Johnson entered from Olds In the third grade Mr Gayle Edwards Rotter was held responsible for our behavior Earl Crawford became a member of our class that year While we were in the fourth grade, we gained two new members Betty Gibbs from Pleasant Lawn, and Dean Swearingen. Our instructor for that year was Mrs Dorothy Bennett Renshaw. William Trout joined us in the fifth grade were guided through our fifth grade work by Mrs Clora Lynn Auton. Shirley Simpson, who had been gone two years, re entered the sixth grade which was under Mrs Elizabeth Gilbert Eyestone's care Miss Marie Bergstrom instructed us in our seventh grade work Miss Fern Anderson was our eighth grade teacher, it was in our eighth grade that Joan and Mike Pontzius entered from Swamp College Our Sponsor and officers for our freshman year were sponsor, Joe Wright, president, Carmen Kongable, vice president, Dean historian, Marbel Rawhouser At the end of our freshman year Joe Willet dropped The sponsor and officers for our sophomore year were sponsor, Homer Weis, president, Janet Johnson, vice president, Myers Rossiter, secretary, Helen Canby, treasurer, Lauretta Mohr At the start of our sophomore year Marietta Mason came to us from New London, and Earl Crawford returned after a two years absence. Mike Pontzius and Dorothy Howard dropped in our sophomore year and Elizabeth Bush entered during the year. Junior sponsor and officer were sponsor, Mrs. Lorna Fry, president, Carmen Kongable, vice president, Junior Rickey, secretary, Joan Pontzius, treasurer, Betty Gibbs We lost four members at the end of our junior year. They were Glenna White, Elizabeth Bush, Helen Canby, and Ernest Williams, who was drafted into the United States Army The last new member was Verna Conn, who entered our class in 1945 Our senior sponsor and officers were sponsor, Mr G. G, Bellamy, president, Mvers Rosslter vice president Martha Swan secretarv Janet JohnS0D. treasurer, Ralph McCray. Mr G G. I, - . , ho- Prophecy of 1946 Class For several weeks I had been overly arrive It had be n ten years since I had class mates Tonight I was giving a class minute I was hoping all of our class would anxious for this day to seen some of my former reunion party and every come Due to my marriage, I had resigned from my position as the chief telephone operator for the Bell Telephone System I was exception ally proud of my home as only recently my best friend and former classmate, Carmen Kongable, had redecorated it Carmen is one of the leading interior decorators in the city at the present time Beverly Llndell and Janet Johnson are also living in New York and they are as excited over this party as I Beverly is now designing clothes for the magazine Mademoisette and Janet is a kindergarten teacher In the same school that Janet is teaching in, Betty Gibbs is the Physical Education teacher Beverly and her husband had arrived, and now someone was Junior Crawford, the dare Only a few minutes later Janet and her husband, Carmen and Betty else was stopping in front Well, devil stunt rider, on his motorcycle Lauretta Mohr and Shirley Simpson came from Chicago They are running a very popular hair dressing shop called the Laurson Dean Swearingen and Joan Pontzius came not long after It is quite a coincidence that two more of our classmates should D6 1268011 ing the same school Dean is an agriculture teacher, Joan fourth grade teacher and they both are doing very well in their positions at Kansas City, Kansas Mr and Mrs Wm Trout were the next to arrive Mrs the former Martha Swan Before Martha's marriage she was Trout is a very efficient bookkeeper They now live on a farm in Iowa Walter Hatton, electrician, in partnership with his father in Des Moines stopped in Chicago for Myers Rossiter, a mechanical en gineer Ralph NcCray also came with Walter and Myers Ralph is work ing in the field of air conditioning Marietta Nason, one of WHO's radio script writers, Paula Fenn, the famed singer, and Verna Lou Conn, a stenographer for a firm arrived from Boston together One of our classmates was missin We were all quite down heart ed about the matter when Myers said, Will you look at the sleek black car whizzing this way! Who ever it is certainly believes in driv ing The driver was none other than Junior Rickey, the last but not least of our class Junior now is in the car manufacturing business After an evening of renewing old acquaintances and talking over old times, our party broke up in the wee hours of the morning with the resolution to hold another reunion in ten more years 15 . e Y , .
