This, in part, was the reason for those long hours on the football field pre- paring the band for a movie taken by the State High School Activities Association that was sent to all high schools in the state. Also the time spent in working out new for- mations to entertain the football spectators and the time spent playing at basketball Quartermaster corps games and assemblies. Planning Committee In December Paul Painter, who had been head of the instrumental department for the past 14 years, accepted a position in Chicago and until a new director was secured, the music department planning committee was in charge of the band and orchestra with Patti Reiter, student conductor. Donald A. Pash of Freeport, Ill., arrived in January to take over the duties as director of the department. L.-. . - ,,, , - wmv-1: w X- . if .Hymn l
