FINALLY THE CHAMPIONSHIP g t e saw athletic history being made because W of the teams accomplishments. We had our first 13-0 season, our first AA championship, the first time that two playoff games were played at WHS, and our first Kennedy award winner, Teddy Kester, said Coach McCoy about the 1985 football team. This year was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the team. They spent long hard hours practicing in the weight room. The results of their hard work and dedication showed every time they were on the field. Dean Vaughan felt that everyone played well together as a team, saying, We just wanted to keep moving the ball on the offensive end? Mike Prince said, I feel that the team didnt have as much talent as some of the other teams, but we stuck together and played very well? Coach McCoy said, In every coachis career there is a dream of winning the championship, and this one was very special to me. The Generals, hard at work, on their way to the championship. 90
