43 .hr inn! Sr. George Marie instructs Juniors and Seniors in English. Spanish has proved to be quite inte resting :specially the reading and conversation. We lad no idea it could be so entertaining. We are at a loss sometimes to do some trans- .ating and what we succeed in putting on :aper doe sn't always mean what it should. We find that we no can speake the Spanish muy Jien. You see, amigo mio, we no have studied our lesson as we should and so our espanol no is very good . But some day we are going to surprise you and speak Spanish so fluently that no one around here will be able to comprehend. English When it comes to English, it's a subject you just can't get away from these days. Every time you open your mouth now somebody is checking on your correct or incorrect use of English. It used to be that only the teachers would check on our use of correct English, but now youaren't safe any- where. Somebody is sure to be ready with pencil and paper to take down your incorrect usage and face you with it in English class. lt certainly makes us watch our p's and q's these days. v ' Trojan Express Staff checks copy Aqui se habla espanol. Freshmen and Sophomores Although our school paper The Trojan Express has made only afew appearances this year we feel that it has done quite a good job each time. By means ofthis paper we acquaint our companions and members of our little community with many of our activities and accomplishments which Z might otherwise escape notice. 1 Mr. George Beaman, coachand fresh- man sponsor, has added this task to an ' already crowded schedule. The members fi--N. L ia. . of his staff too are quite busy with school work as most of the members are taking six subjects which calls for a full day. Q This is the main reason why the Trojan Express has not made it s appearance oftener. And as for a lack of news, why, we could publish a daily paper with all the things that happen here every hour.

Biology Class The language of science is something that y students have difficulty in mastering and 0 general science helps them over this hurdle ,y supplying a somewhat limited but accurate cientific vocabulary. Biology, which is being offered this year, eaches us to be more appreciative of living hings in our environment. Both plants and nimals are studied and an awareness of all the Drms of life, --visible and invisible is brought .ome to us. For example the water is our stock tanks is with visible forms of life including the of the mosquito that bothers us on a sum- r night as well as the tiny slipper -shaped ramecium. Y rs and Seniors expound Geometry Since greater emphasis is being placed on the study of the natural sciences it is only right that we give them a proper emphasis in our curri- culum. Chemistry, Biology, and general science are the courses made available to us. Chemistry and biology are given on alternate years and general science is offered every year. In general science the student is introduced to a little astronomy, geology, physics, chem- istry, botany and zoology. This helps to givea foundation for a better understanding when bi- ology or chemistry are studied more in detail. i D. Freshmen study General Science This science leads unmistakably from a study of the creature to the Creator,Who made and guides the destinies of each of these His creatures. Thus we prove again that science and religion go hand in hand and do not in any way contradict each othe r. Mathematics is inseparable from the science mentioned above. All types of mathematics are helpful here but more especially a knowledge of geometry and algebra. By means ofthese and other more advanced forms itis possible for scientists to predict the path of the earths satellites and give the time and position where they may be seen. An immense amount of mathematics as well as mechanical skill goes into the planning and firing of even the simplest missile, much less a satellite. Remem- ber the scientists of tomorrow are the students of today, and although we don't expect to find a Von Braun around here, we do want to prepare ourselves for the space age in which we live.
