Sometimes distractions seemed to disguise this purpose but , with the help of his directors , producers and stage managers , the actor managed to regain direction. When rehearsals startedeverything seemed new — even the stage. The actor first had to feel at home in his new environment. As he became more at ease with the stage , he found he could devote time and energy to the development of his role. Soon the dialogue seemed natural and the interaction with other characters was no longer strained. He had added dimension to his character and was filled with a sense of purpose.

Standing on the stage the actor views the finished product: the props are in their assigned placesthe spotlights are strategically placed and the set is solidly constructed. He is not alone, for his friends await their entrance in the wings. The actor takes a deep breath; he is primed and ready to give his best. The play begins. . Page
