The curtain rises. The long-awaited and well- rehearsed performance is about to begin. Many obstacles had to be overcome before his name appeared in lights. 00 4 Page When rehearsals startedeverything seemed new ā even the stage. The actor first had to feel at home in his new environment. As he became more at ease with the stage , he found he could devote time and energy to the development of his role. Soon the dialogue seemed natural and the interaction with other characters was no longer strained. He had added dimension to his character and was filled with a sense of purpose. Sometimes distractions seemed to disguise this purpose but , with the help of his directors , producers and stage managers , the actor managed to regain direction. After tiresome preparation and after experimenting with many interpretations, the actor was now in complete control of his character. 6 O Page Standing on the stage the actor views the finished product: the props are in their assigned placesthe spotlights are strategically placed and the set is solidly constructed. He is not alone, for his friends await their entrance in the wings. The actor takes a deep breath; he is primed and ready to give his best. The play begins. . Page Just as the actor achieved success dealt with failure and gained wisdom we, too , have been able to do this on our stage. However, the similarity between us ends with the finale. When the footlights faded on his stage , the actor had fulfilled his role , the mystery had been solved and all the loose ends were neatly tied. The production was over for all. CM Page When the curtain falls on our high school years the ending will not be soBj final. Our roles are unend- ing and our achievements pj here will influence all fhe other stages of our lives. M For us , the mystery remains unsolved; thej challenge beckons us to overcome. W A Y 3ROADWAY JUj I M I They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts. Shakespeare As our final season comes to a close, we will be fully prepared to accept our future roles. Through his unending patience and endurance as a friend, director and teacher, he has aided each student in the development of his character. For these contributions, we, the class of 1979, dedicate our yearbook to Mr. James C. Cat to 10 Page In memory of our friend and classmate , James McGinn He impressed those of us who knew him with his shy smile and gentle nature. His easy manner and genuine warmth added friendship and laughter to our lives. We have crossed a bridge in the journey of life. Now on the other side, we pause to look behind us . . . We remember that before we crossed our bridge we were anxious to see what was on the other side. We wondered what our future years would bring us. Once we began our journey, preparation took the place of wonder ā we prepared ourselves to successfully meet the future. We found that through interaction with our fellow travelers we could all benefit from each other ' s mistakes. Consequently, all along the way our character was developing as we were striving to better ourselves. We learned that the develop¬ ment of our admirable qualities and the overcoming of our flaws were the necessary ingredients for suc¬ cess. Our four-year journey across the bridge has enabled us to grow in wisdom and maturity. ... As we stand on the new bank looking behind us, we realize that this bridge is only a small part of our journey in life. A long road lies before us ā a road on which we will continue to grow and learn. Our bridge has provided us with the experiences to guide us along this path. Our capability of retaining the lessons of the past and using them to meet the challenges of the future will be our most powerful asset. We realize that our bridge is the passage way into the future. o CN Page CM Page Page Page The Leads Mr. Robert Oliva, Senior Class Advisor Patricia Boucher, Secretary Leslie Mari none. Both Carla and Maria came to the United States unable to speak English. They came to experience a new way of life, fam¬ ily, friends, school, and much more. We, the class of 79 are glad to have been a part of this new experience. They have been an asset to our class and school. We are proud to have them as members of our class, and especially proud to have them as our friends. Carla Cerrato Friendship knows no lan¬ guage or boundary. It tran¬ scends cultures and travels outward from the heart. 144 Maria Xavier Dear Carla and Maria, We will have many fond memories of your stay with us. We wish you the best of luck in your careers. May you have happy memories and much hap¬ piness in the future. Your friends, The Class of 79 00 03 CU American Field Service . . .
