Page Page Page TABLE of contents jj: ? • : i • m • • • BSCE 84 FACE 130 w PACE 160 PACE 176 VO Page Page Our tune was a simple one at first — timid, singular notes ringing out a simple melody. It was too simple to be misunderstood or even challenged. With the passage of time, however, the simple melody was no longer sufficient. 4 We are the music-makers and the song we are creating is distinctly our own. At the beginning we knew little about music and did not realize that we were, all in our own way, unseen composers. 00 Page We were growing, changing and adding dimension to our lives and it was only fitting that our tune change with us. We found that the single notes were enriched when combined with other notes. Chords were being formed and harmony was added. 5 O ' D b£ 03 CU Soon our song had sustenance and our harmonious melody could be heard throughout the school. Sometimes our song was appreciated by all; other times we were the only ones who understood. But the song never stopped — it just grew stronger. 6 O Page Page Page We arc the ( ream -makers. Using the melody. harmony and rhythm of our past. we hope to shape our dreams into the music of life. cn Page Through her understanding, sincerity, and involvement with individuals throughout the school, she has helped to shape the over-all rhythm heard within each student. In appreciation for her time and devotion, we dedicate the 1978 HERALD to Linda Colo Page CLASS FA VORITES MOVIE ROCKY BOOK ALIVE PASTIME PARTYING COMIC STRIP FUNKY WINKER BEAN SPORT BASEBALL BEACH MISQUAMICUT FOOD PIZZA DRINK BEER GUM BUBBLE-YUM COLOR BLUE FEMALE SINGER LINDA RONSTADT MALE SINGER PETER FRAMPTON ACTRESS BARBRA STREISAND ACTOR ROBERT REDFORD ROCK GROUP CHICAGO FLEETWOOD MAC SEASON SUMMER CAR COR VETTE SHOES NO SHOES — BAREFOOT PET DOG 11 LD Page Page Page Page The river flows, forever onward. Made great by the input of small streams and tributaries, the river moves toward its fulfillment with a certain, undying rhythm. Its journey downstream is not always a smooth one. Obstacles, both external and internal, con¬ stantly challenge the calm waters. Although the river wants to become greater and stronger, its embank¬ ments, which direct its flow, sometimes confine and limit its growth. Although the river wants to move on unchallenged, the rocks over which it flows can disrupt its path. Whirlpools and undercurrents threaten to prevent its onward movement. If the river gives in, it will flow aimlessly in circles forever. However, if the river fights back it can swell in rebellious anger and overcome the whirlpools by sheer force of will and move on toward something greater and more challenging. Like the small streams and tributaries that flow into the river, we, as individuals, have contributed to the overall rhythm of our class. Sometimes that rhythm flowed easily, untroubled by worries or obstructions. At such times we were free to sit back and enjoy the song we had created. At other times, however, we, as individ¬ uals and as a class, had to overcome the hurdles in our path. There were times when we thought that rules and regulations were only there to hinder, instead of direct, our growth. Pressures, both social and academic, seemed to challenge our calm frame of mind. But. in the end, like the river, we overcame these obstacles and now are free to move onward in search of our ultimate goals. May we all be successful in the lives we choose to lead. o CM D bJD 03 Oh Page SENIORS CO CM 19 Page MARY E. ACQUAOTTA “Betsy” OUTLOOK: To become an artist.
