As we reflect back on life, one of the things that will always stick in our minds is the four years we have spent in high school. For this reason, we decid- ed to use as our theme “Four Years Forever. We always hear our parents say that some of the best moments of their lives took place while they were in high school. A person grows so much during the four years he spends at high school — not just physically but mentally and socially as well. It is a period of time which we will remember forever. If you notice on the title page, the letters “our” in the word “four are underlined. This is done to sig- nify that it is Our four years that we spend togeth- er. that we will treasure forever. Mr. Sims. Chris Bryson Blank Expression! I can sec clearly now! Introduction S A Devoted Person Peggy Bullerman We, the Pow Wow Staff of 1983, dedicate our yearbook to Peggy Bul- lerman. Peggy began her work as a unit secretary at Windsor High School in 1961. She continued what seemed to be never ending work until 1982 when she retired, her 21 years of dedicated service brought everyone to rely upon her ever-constant presence and dili- gence. She had a magical insight that could turn seemingly hopeless situa- tions into clearcut answers. Her in- vincible sense of humor brought a lot of laughter into the lives of those around her. We dedicated our yearbook to you, Peggy, because you dedicated so much to us. Mrs Harold Bullerman Unit Secretary Behind the scenes, but ready and willing to help anyone, is our secretary. Mrs. Bullerman Her ability to unravel financial tangles and her efficiency in secretarial work make her a valu- able asset to our school. Her name is Lisa Phillips and she is a sophomore. Lisa is from Finley, Australia. She spent her time here staying with the family of Howard and Irene Gaston. W'e asked Lisa what she missed most about home, and she said she missed her family and friends. Lisa will miss her friends the most when she leaves Windsor to re- turn home. The prospective date for Li- sa's departure from Windsor is February 18. Sophomores 23 Itty Bitty Freshmen Freshmen Arc People Too .. . The freshmen entered high school nervous but excited. The Attentive Administrations The School Board, laboring under many difficulties, has had many monumental decisions to make this year. Most of them revolve around the troublesome financial situation of the school. One of the most difficult decisions was the moving of the junior high students from Gays to the high school to help cut costs. Many other decisions will have to be made, but we put our trust in the hands of these capable people. Orris Seng. Homicide, of course, is the answer — and a nice cup of tea is the murder weapon. When O’Finn arrives to investigate the crime, he turns out better than they dreamed. Then when his visits taper off, how better to entice him back than with a second murder? When a brash young girl reporter begins to suspect the truth, she becomes the next target. O’Finn is pain- fully embarrassed to learn that he is the motive for all the murders, and in desperation, manages to solve the case. Even so, the dear old ladies are still able to turn the tables on O’Finn at the end of the play. Crew pictured at the right: Karen Daily, Chris Wools, Brian Helton, and Mike Cole. Johnna Welsh, and Meg Montague We. the editors, would like to take this chance to thank those that spent so much of their time to make this yearbook possible. Our biggest thanks go to Mrs. Marsland; without her this book wouldn't exist. We would also like to thank the teachers for allowing us to interrupt their classes to take pictures and for allowing students to miss classes w hile selling ads. We would like to thank everyone for understanding the raised price of this yearbook. It was a difficult situation, but there was no other way to be able to print this yearbook that we hope you will greatly enjoy. We would also like to wish a special thanks to the members who regularly attend- ed the meetings and helped to produce our yearbook. It was hard work. There were several nights when we thought the meetings were never going to end. Through all the troubles we somehow seemed to cope and get the book finished. It was a hectic year with changing com- panies to produce the yearbook and learning the differ- ent methods. W’ithout the help of devoted people, this yearbook just wouldn't be. Lastly we would especially like to wish next year's editors and staff good luck!!! Thanks. Lisa. Johnna. and Meg Librarians and Editors 67 Scintillating Scholastic Team Front: Gary Hortenstein. Kristina Daily, Michael Cole In the 1982-83 school year the National Trail Conference has introduced some changes in the format for scholastic com- petition. The season was dou- bled in length by adding an au- tumn season to the already existing spring season. This al- lowed competing teams to meet twice instead of just once. Another format change was made in the N.T.C. tourna- ment. For the 1982-83 season, the tournament will be a round- robin type. This tournament will be held in March. The scholastic team in the autumn half of its season pro- duced a record of 2-6 by the varsity and 4-2 by the fresh- man-sophomore team. 68 Scholastic Team E.T. Exceptional Teachers Mrs. Mar si and She is the organizing force behind the yearbook. Without her not only would the editors and staff fall to pieces, but the yearbook would probably never be fin- ished. She has spent endless nights at Pow-Wow meet- ings checking and rechecking the work that is done. She stays until the last person is finished and ready to leave. She attends workshops to learn new ideas to improve the yearbook, and this year has the added burden of changing yearbook companies and arranging the new methods of putting the yearbook together. She spends hours checking written work and pages of ads and pictures. She also maintains a full schedule of classes during the day. When credit for the yearbook is handed out, Mrs. Marsland is sometimes forgotten. With everything she does for this yearbook, she should be the one most recognized. Therefore, we recognize Mrs. Marsland for outstanding patience and a job well done. Mr. Wilhelm We thought we would especially recognize Mr. Wil- helm because so often he is overlooked in the many things he does. He has made a tremendous effort with the Scholastics Team. He has endlessly worked to bring the success of the students on the team to the public. His work as guidance counselor alone is enough for two people. He spends any available time to help students with their problems. He works to help those having difficulties with everything from choosing their college major to picking classes for the next year as well as any personal problems a student may have. He also spends time outside of school to improve his method in these areas. On top of all this he also teaches the social stud- ies classes. We felt that it was about time Mr. Wilhelm was recognized for the outstanding work he has done to help the students and the school in general. I last slam of the locker ... Another year has passed ... WHS people move on toother aspects of living while recuperating from the experiences of the past nine months. During this time these special people have been involved with clubs, classes, and teams. Together they have learned lessons in leadership, sportsmanship, and friendship. They have discovered hidden talents, challenged teachers, and expressed opinions. Throughout these 100 pages, the spirit of these students of WHS has attempted to be captured. As the summer of 1983 approaches, these experiences will become memories, shadows of the summer sun that will always follow these unique people wherever they go. For some, this marks the finale of high school; for others, they will return. But. for all, through the changes, tests and homework of the past year, the students at WHS have grown a little taller, a little older, and perhaps even a little wiser. 100 Closing Thoughts 9
