This year, for the first time, Windsor has organized an academic team to compete against area schools. Our coach, Mr. Wilhelm, established and devoted a great deal of time to the team, for which we thank him. The team is divided into two parts, a varsity team (captain—Steve LeCrone) and a junior varsity team (captain- Jeff Moberley). The meets are made up of two competing teams of five members apiece playing a game consisting of two twelve-minute halves. There are two types of questions, toss-ups and bonuses, involving the categories of science, math, social sciences, fine arts, humanities, and miscellaneous. Toss-ups are awarded to the individual who presses his buzzer first, and if answered correctly, allow the team a bonus question. Toss-ups are worth ten points and bonuses are worth twenty points or a proportionate number of twenty to the percent of parts of the question answered. Because the team did not enter any meets until the end of the fall season, the junior varsity were able to participate in only one game, and the varsity in three, of which they won two. Having an academic team gives the school a larger number of people competing interscholastically and helps to balance out athletics. ( 72 Varsity Club Back Row: 0. Frahm, J. Lowry, D. Goddard, R. Finley, A. Hutchinson, S. LeCrone, D. Goddard, 8. Sinkler. The track team, coached this year by Steve Combs, had a hard working, commendable sea- son, even though the wm loss record was poor. Many hours of conditioning and work on tech- niques paid off for some, but the team as a whole suffered from a lack of participants. Greater success will come with more athletes and more experience. The two mile relay team reigns as Moultrie County champions. Led by seniors Rick Pearcy and Ernie Drummond, the relay team also got second at the Pana Invitational with a 9:02.1 time, the season's best. Ken Owens, Scott How- ard, Dan Herbert, Darrell Goddard and Steve LeCrone all ran on the relay team during differ- ent races throughout the year. The girls' team won their last triangular meet of the year by winning 12 of 16 first places. The team had only 8 girls (1 senior, Joella Cannoy), with each competing in several events. Next year looks promising with these girls back and hopefully a few more. Moultrie County Two Mile Relay Team: Ernie Drummond, Dan Herbert, Scott Howard, Rick Pearcy. Curtis, D. Nieves, B Morgan, B. Carter, T. Helton, T. Spivey THE VERY GREAT GRANDSON OF SHERLOCK HOLMES S. VanOstran, P. Nichols, Mrs. Keller, T. Spivey PDA The (very) great grandson of the master sleuth is trying to make it as a private eye, his mind filled with beautiful girls. Unfortunately, Sherwood is not quite up to his illustrious ancestor Sherlock, a fact pointed out to him by the descendant of Doctor Watson. Thrust into a marvelous and complex murder mystery, young Sherwood tries desperately to rise to the occasion, but his brilliant solution is apparently no more than a humorous disaster. However, this great grandson still retains a bit of classic brilliance by decoding Mr. Creastly's clue to the killer through Ana-wordies and dramatically nails the culprit. 118 119 We could have dance all night!
