WINDSOR HIGH SCHOOL WINDSOR, ILLINOIS 1978 1 TABLE OF CONTENTS IN DEDICATION Becky Bridges 1960-1974 It is with precious memories of our loving friend that we, the Pow-Wow Staff, dedicate the 1978 yearbook to Becky. Becky was our beautiful friend. She shared her life with the class of 1978 for fourteen years. A part of her sharing took place at W.H.S. Becky gave of her time and effort to Band, G.A.A., and Speech Club. Becky was also a member of the Windsor Christian Church, and she sang with the Emmanuel Singers. She not only sang of her loving Creator, but she wrote of Him also. The poem that follows was written by her. She took simple words and molded them with her deepest feel- ings. These sculptured words are a small part of her, that have become a big part of our beautiful memories. Lovingly, The Class of 1978 WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR HIM Long Ago, so far away God was here As He is today. He made the earth, The sky above, The trees and birds With His Mighty Love. He even sent His Son To die, To save us from our sins. Yet often we take for granted What have YOU done for Him? 3 1978 POW-WOW STAFF 4 BEHIND CLOSED DOORS ADMINISTRATION What really hap|i W.H.S.? For the past 50 years, since its founding in 1928, the FFA has become an important teaching tool for the practical application of lessons in leadership, coop- eration and citizenship—all vital to suc- cessful employment in modern agriculture. Today the FFA provides leadership op- portunities for over 465,000 students by challenging them with incentive awards and leadership activities which com- plement the instructional program. Through its activities, the FFA encourages entrepreneurship, helps make better em- ployees and develops responsible citizens by uniting them with leadership opportu- nities in agriculture. Any student regularly enrolled in vocational agriculture may be an active member of any chartered FFA chapter. FFA SLt SO 1028 - 1978 OFFICERS: On tractor J. Spanish Club, which is open to all students who have studied or who are studying Spanish, had a year specially enriched by the presence of our Spanish exchange student, Oscar Luque. In addition to the cus- tomary club activities-a fall welcoming party for new members, a caroling party at Christmas, and Pan American Night in the spring—members became acquainted through Oscar with some details of life in Spain, including Basque and Spanish songs. Some members were also privileged to participate in a trip to St. Louis, where they heard a concert of Spanish and Latin American music presented by Ollantay, a group using native instruments like a drum made of a log and a kind of banjo made from an armadillo's shell. Bell, S. Richards, P. Lenz, C. Price, L. Peters, R. Thies, J. Shafer. Psychologist Solomon Bell conducts the Bell School for Adults, using the basic principles of the enlightened nursery school—and a few of his own. In the Bell School, the students can let feelings and impulses run riot. They can work with wood, model day, finger-paint, blow horns, squoosh their toes in mud or kick around The Boss, a life-sized dummy. Unfortunately, there are objections to the proceedings; the school is suddenly closed, and the students all land in jail! They are even subjected to a police line-up. All ends well when Mrs. Ryan, the psychologist's landlady, traps the elusive doctor in his own sickbed psychomotor drama ; and it's wedding bells for Dr. Bell. 114 It's got me! It's got me! Take your partner and do-si-do. 115 PRECIOUS AND FEW Junior-Senior Prom 1978 Over the teeth and through the gums; watch out, turn- turn, here it comes! Dig these Senior Wills! Elvis! 116 Peek-a-boo! Not now, George! They're taking our picture! I'll miss those Juniors. Should I get the last glass of punch? My Tickle deodorant is getting me! Gee, Mike!
