Perry Moore, Sec. Teresa Hennigh, Treas. Karen Garrett, Vice Pres. Scott Baker, Advisor Mr. Seng. Student Council This year the Student Council, a vital link between students and the faculty and the Board of Educa- tion, has brought about a change in the student government. It has brought about the changing of the dress code and the organizing of a Student Talking Commons for students who are on the honor roll. They are allowed to leave the study hall and have free use of the lounge and the Coke and candy machines. If a student fails to make the honor roll during the next nine weeks, he loses this privilege. It is the Student Council's privilege to sponsor the bonfire and Homecoming Dance. This year the Lingenberry Lighthouse was chosen as the dance band. The student Council is looking forward to even more progress next year. The various activities they participate in are: softball, hiking, basketball, dancing and crafts, volleyball, tramp, bowling, and skating. The main highlight is the camping trip. G.A.A. sponsors a Daddy Date Night, a Mother-Daughter Night, a Mother-Daugh- ter Banquet, and G.A.A. Week. All of the girls work very hard to get their points so they can get an award at the end of the year. This also helps the club to raise money for many different things to use during the year. ONE FOOT IN HEAVEN is the true account of young Hartzell Spence's EVENTFUL arrival and stay in Laketon, Iowa. The Laketon parsonage was to be the first and most immediate cause of trouble as the family began their mission in Laketon. Everyone will remember Father as he got plastered when the ceiling in his study collapsed. The disastrous, problem-filled parsonage wasn’t enough. There were several other problems, including Mrs. Cambridge and Mrs. Jellison, who were always fighting, and Major Cooper and Mrs. Sandow, who caused more trouble than ever could be imagined. Add to this a choir leader who sings seven octaves sharp, and you have one holy mess! Through all of this, Father pulled his family, with one foot in heaven and one on earth. These are cheerleaders?? The 1970 homecoming activities began on Friday, December 18. After a parade uptown, the students returned to the school and gathered around the bon- fire. The basketball boys and coaches gave short speeches. Then we proceeded to the gym where several skits and a cheerleading routine were held. A tug-of-war was held between the classes with the seniors winning. This year die classes as well as the clubs made banners. Of the classes the freshmen won first and the seniors received second. Industrial Arts won first and F.H.A. won second for their banner . The homecoming dance, Ice Palace , was held on December 19, from 8 to 11 p.m. The Lingen- berry Lighthouse provided music for the occasion. The beautifully decorated gym was highlighted by die return of several of the past years homecoming queens. 64 BEST SENSE OF HUMOR: PATTY FALLERT, LARRY WRIGHT and JUD McKENZIE MOST TALENTED: SCOTT BAKER and DEBRA STORM Hall Of Fame MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED: SALLY BRIDGES and KEITH GASTON MOST DEPENDABLE: GAIL WELCH and DENNIS BUESKING MOST ATHLETIC: KEITH GASTON and DEBBIE HORN BIGGEST FLIRTS: JERRY THOMPSON and DEBBIE KING NEATEST: SALLY BRIDGES and TOM COLE BEST PERSONALITY: SCOTT BAKER and GAIL WELCH Athletics “If we win men’s hearts throughout the world, it will not he because we are a big country but be- cause we are a great country. When Don MacDonald buys a chicken farm in the Olympic Mountains, his wife Betty and their teen-age daughters, Anne and Joan, have a lot of adjustment to make. They find themselves surrounded- by yeeping chicks, leaky roofs, invading skunks, an unexpected Indian, work and more work. Anne's would-be boyfriend turns out to be a would-be chicken farmer, and when uninvited guests descend like a horde of locusts, Betty feels that even the leaky roof is ready to fall in. All is tesolved when civiliza- tion in the form of modern plumbing reaches the MacDonald household and even the chickens become an accepted fact. STAGE CREW; TOP ROW; P. Howard, A. Hilligoss. BOTTOM ROW; B. Watters, D. Peadro. Junior Class Presents A windmill, tulips, and a beautiful gar- den decked the gym as the Junior-Senior Prom took place on May 1. After the tra- ditional banquet was held in the grade school, all proceeded to the high school in order to enjoy a time of dancing and fun. Until 3 A.M. post-prom was held at Charleston Bowling Alley. Afterward many tired, but happy, Juniors and Seniors made their ways home with Windmills of Your Mind a lovely memory. Windmills Of Your Mind Senior Trip At 4:30 a.m. the bus ar- rived, bags were packed, and everyone piled in, ready for adventure. A quick break- fast and on to our destination which was reached at noon, Friday. Swimming, eating, ana dancing were a few of the activities we enjoyed, A closeness between class- mates is an experience none of us will forget for a long time.
