We have two good cooks, Mrs. Mary Parnell and Mrs. Amy Camlc. While Mrs. Camic was ill another good cook, Mrs. Reason Davis, helped out. The cooks have some student helpers who wash dishes, punch tickets, etc. Here is a sample of meals for one week. MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY Potatoes and Cheese Turkey Steaks Beef Roast and Potatoes Egg Salad Mashed Potatoes Gravy Green Beans Gravy Slaw Pineapple Pudding Slaw Ice Cream Vanilla Wafers Peaches Cookies Bread and Butter Bread and Butter Bread and Butter Milk Milk Milk THURSDAY FRIDAY Turkey Fried Fish Up-side-down Pie Wieners and Kraut Green Beans Mashed Potatoes Scalloped Corn Cherry Cobbler Bananas Bread Bread and Butter Butter Milk Milk The dining room of the cafeteria is finished in a cool green and yellow, and it has a seating capacity for one hundred and two with six to a table. The kitchen has two electric stoves, a potato peeler, a potato masher, a large walk-in cooler, a dish-washer and many other miscellaneous items. All of the students and teachers stand in an orderly line to be served. The food is on steam tables so that it is kept hot while the three people serve each tray. After each person gets his tray, he picks up his knife, fork, spoon, milk, napkin, and straw. He then has his ticket punched and sits down to eat. On the table he will find salt and pepper, bread and butter, and sometimes peanut butter, carrot sticks, or celery. The pop machines and the candy room are in one corner of the cafeteria. Each class takes turns selling in the candy room. For ball games, pop, candy, and ice cream are sold in the cafeteria, and also it serves as a smoking room for the men. It is a wonderful place to show films and for the music students to practice. Everyone thinks this ls a fine addition to the school. 5 FFIEULTHJ Ellis L. Brant. Supt. Illinois College, A. B. The Blue Devils won the Tournament by downing St. Elmo in the first round, a surprising victory over Teutopolis, and a final victory over the rough St. Anthony Bulldogs. Going into the Tournament with a six and six record the Blue Devils were rated a dark horse and were not expected to go past the first round. Windsor won the first round game easily from St. Elmo by a 61 to 31 score. The Blue Devils then tackled T-Town in the next game and came out on top after a rousing battle, that wasn't decided until the last shot, by a score of 49 to 47. Windsor led most of the way, but the Wooden Shoes put a last quarter rally that was turned back by the Blue Devils. The game winning points were free throws made by Jim Maxedon. In the final game against the St. Anthony Bulldogs the Blue Devils wasted little time in getting started and at one time led by 13 points. St. Anthony meantime found the range and pulled upon even terms with Windsor in the last quarter, and from there on it was a seesaw battle which the Blue Devils won by pulling a neat and effective stall for the last minute and a half. Again the game-winning points were free throws: this time Larry Hen- nigh guard, was the sharpshooter. ' This tournament victory brought to Windsor the only first- place trophy won by the varsity this season. It served as an in- spiration fox the rest of the season as the team won a great per- centage of their games from there on out. I so , if '41 BASEBALL The climax of a very successful season in baseball was the winning of the National Trail Conference Championship. The trophy was presented at a ban- quet on March 23, 1953. The team won nine games and lost only two. They scored a total of 82 runs to their opponents' total of 44 runs which gave them an average of 7.8 runs per game. They were ably coached by Mr. Buchanan and Mr. Seng. Scores were as follows: Windsor 16 Findlay 8 Windsor 4 Cowden 5 Windsor 12 Brownstown 4 Windsor 4 St. Anthony 2 Windsor 14 Beecher City 4 Windsor 5 Altamont 6 Windsor 8 Teutopolis 6 Windsor 1 S-S Comets O Windsor 10 Neoga 4 PLAY-OFF GAMES Windsor 4 Altamont 3 Windsor 4 Cchampionshipl St. Anthony 2 BASEBALL FIRST ROW-left to right-Roger Beals, Bruce Nolen, Vincent Passalacqua, Vernon Mullikin, Stanley Bjurstrom.
