We feel relief in knowing we have completed high school, satisfac- tion in what we have achieved, and concern for what the future holds. We realize that now is the time that we must let go of the past enough to reach for the future. We will use the memories of our time at W.A.H.S. to guide us through new beginnings. These special memories will remain with us forever. We have been prepared well and will find strength to conquer any obstacle that may stand in our way. We are confident that there are no limits to what we can accomplish. We wish the best to the Class of '89 and to the underclassmen. May you cherish your time here as much as we did! 8 LORI ADEN - “Eddie Eagle Staff 1, 2, 3; Tatler Staff 4; D.E.C.A. 3; Library Cadet 3; Choir 1, 2. 3; Band 1, 2, 3, 4; Pep Band 1, 2, 3, 4; Jazzmatics 3, 4; Letterwinner’s Club 3, 4; Girl's Basketball Manager 1, 2, 3, 4; Track Manager 3, 4. She experienced a new culture enjoyed many new friendships, and lived as the Americans do. JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS Another wonderful year on our paths toward adulthood and independence has passed and we may, on occasion, reflect on past accounts, whether good or bad. We must not dwell on these, though; but instead should be focusing on the future and working to make ourselves the best we can be. If we strive to be the best, then we can accomplish almost anything that this complex world has to offer. Our Junior year was just another step towards achieving our goals in life. We have learned much through our years of schooling and have grown so very much in all aspects of our young lives thus far. Hopefully our Senior year at WAHS and the ensuing years will show productive additions to our acheivements. We would like to extend our gratitude to the graduating seniors for all the support that they have offered over the years, not only in academics, but also through the many extra-curricular activities we have shared with them. I hope we can do the same for the classes that follow us. It's been an exciting journey so far. 26 Angela Anderson Paul Anderson Trista Anderson Shane Arbuckle Lori Ashing Andrew Augustin Kevin Ax tell Angela Bacon Kim Balch Arlette Becker Bobbi Jo Becker Stefanie Berkness Debra Bjerum Thomas Bjorklund Susan Black Rondi Blanshan Scott Bockelmann Jolene Bretzman Janna Brinkman Kelli Byam Bart Carey Lisa Caviness Mark Christianson Jeffrey Cook Rhonda Defries Chad Dehmlow Robin Duerksen Sam Duerksen Shannon Dunse Jade Eidem Theresa Einck Brigitte Elness Jay Elness Carmen Elston Stacy Fat gard Joelle Franz 27 Rodney Gerdes Angela Gordon Martin Gordon Kim Graft Clay Gravley Jason Gravley Dean Grimmius Kathy Grimmius Michael Halverson Jill Hammer David Hansen Jason Haroldson Kevin Heggeseth Thomas Heinitz Jason Hempstead Cheryl Hiebert Ted Kleist High Gia Hobbs Lance Holmen Linda Holmes Daniel Holt Christine Jensen Trevor Jensen Elizabeth Johnson James Johnson Jennifer Kaiser Nicole Keffeler Karey Kielty Margo Kulseth Valerie Langland Michael Lenz Lori Libra Dana Lindaman Rachel Ling Belle Maras Daniel McLevish Daniel Meyer Judith Michaels Michelle Miller Terry Mohlencamp Scott Myers Billy Jo Naumann 28 Markus Nehlsen Kirsten Nerhus Joel Oeltjenbruns Perry Olson Michele Oltmans Esther Paulson David Petersen Gaelan Piotter Chad Poynter Lorie Quarberg David Ratajczak Chad Ray Todd Rehnelt Barbara Rempel Patrick Ronning Christian Rottmann Michael Schaffer Scott Schaffer Janelle Schipper Jennifer Schlepp Diana Schoenenberger Jeffrey Schuur Lisa Smith Crista Stahl Troy Stevens Tonia Stoffregen Chad Swenson Tamara Thiner Michael Thompson Brett Tibodeau Staci Torkelson Deanne Uhlhorn John Veenker Kati Virtanen Lisa Voshage Marsha Weiland William Wessels Karen Will Kraig Winkel 29 SUE REMPEL SECRETARY, MARY FOLEY - PRESIDENT, CORY SCHMIDT - VICE-PRESIDENT. SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS As sophomores we found many new responsibilities and chal- lenges. One of those was getting our drivers licenses. It was really neat and made us feel more mature when we got them. Picking out our class rings was another thing we all enjoyed. It was really neat seeing everybody get them. We also found that classes are getting tougher. In sports we found it tough, but a fun challenge in representing Windom as B-squad, and for some Varsity. We’re the class of “90”, and on our way to make ourselves known. 30 Chad Aim Chad Anderson Stephanie Aspen Karla Axtell Tad Bartelt Stacey Baumgard Jason Bramstedt Travis Bretzman Shane Burmeister Kim Busse Adam Caviness Stacy Chachula Kelly Chester Wade Corwin Brian Cowan Nicole Crispin Glen Elness Vicki Elston Rachel Engler James Ertz Jennifer Even son Brenda Ferguson Dana Ferguson Joel Flatgard Sarah Flatgard Mary Foley Jon Grams Robert Hall Tonja Hansen Stephanie Hartberg Christopher Hein Kimberly Hettenbach Scott Hill Bryce Hintze Dustin Holmen Scott Huebert 31 Kelly Hummel Kraig Hunter Stephen Jans Hark Jansen Seth Jensen Stephanie Johnson Todd Johnson Leah Koch Keith Krueger Wade Kruse Jason Mabee Donn MacArthur Orlando Mai chow Travis Medill Jeffrey Meier Shane Menken Mark Meyer Russell Miller Becky-Ann Nehlsen J. EIGHTH GRADE OFFICERS The Eighth grade class had a lot of fun this year. We enjoyed all the challenges that came by, such as getting stuck on the outside of the circle between classes trying to get to our lockers and not being stepped on by the upperclassmen. We enjoyed the sports we partici- pated in, and the dances were great and we enjoyed being part of them. Even though the school was new to us, we had no trouble finding our classes. Also, thanks to the counselors who were always there when we needed to talk to them. We’re finally here. The excitement began the week of September 28 with everyone coming to school dressed as slobs. That night there was a snake dance that weaved its way around Island Park. Afterwards there was a huge bon fire in which the cheerleaders lead the crowd in cheers and final respects were made to the Pipestones Arrows. Tuesday was devoted to the Original Party Animal-Spuds Mackenzie. Wednesday was fa- vorite team day with the halls crowded with Twins fans. The highlight of the afternoon was the exciting volleyball match between the Seniors from A-squad football and A-squad vol- leyball. Thursday was a step back in time to the 1950’s. Saddle shoes, bobby socks and greased hair were the styles of WAHS. Anxiety and anticipation filled the air Friday morning. Dennis Blackstad and Wendy Moede filled everyone with laughter as our Master and Mistress of Ceremonies. Laurie Purrington and Randy Pankonin were crowned as the Fall Homecoming royalty of 1987. The Homecoming Court includ- ed Karla Stone, Randy Rose, Elise Brodin, John Carrison, Randy Pankonin, Laurie Purrington, Lance Jackson, Ann Lewis, Richard Schmidt, Heather VanNorman, and the Crown Bearers were Amanda Gordon and Timothy Hogan. That night was the exciting football match between the Eagles and the Pipestone Arrows. Entertainment was pro- vided by the Windom Eagle Band during halftime. Their selec- tions included “Thor, ” “Excaliber, ” “God Bless America, ” and “Everybody Have Fun Tonight. ” 109 WINTER EST To kick off the Winterfest week, Mondaywe had Twins and sucker day. On Tuesday, the Colas had a short battle, because school was called off at 9:30 due to the snow. Wednesday was a day enjoyed by all - no school. Thursday school began two hours late. On Friday, everyone dressed up in honor or coro- nation. “Is This Love”, was the theme chosen for Winterfest. Now what would Winterfest be without entertainment? We had many class acts to keep everyone happy. The Blues Brothers bopped to “Soul Man”, Kim and Gia dazzled us with a jazz dance to “Flamethrower”, Alan and Belle jarmonized to “Can’t We Try”, Kirsten and Markus sang “Time of My Life”, Wendy and Mr. Lindaman combined their musical talents to sing a love song written by Mr. Lindaman. Wendy also sang a beautiful solo to “Forever”. Pop group bopped and hopped to “Route 66” and “Who Put the Bomp , and the Jazzmatics performed “Gimme Some Lovin ’. Next was the famous quar- tet of Fred, Joel, Tad and Alan. The foursome strutted their stuff to “Book of Love”. Kris DeClerk and Richard Schmidt had the honor of being Mistress and Master of Ceremonies. The stunning Melissa Ferguson and the gallant Mark Evers reign together as queen and king of Winterfest '88. The royal court consisted of Penny Biever, Connie Dahlke, Wendy Moede, Renee Pommerening, Joe! Erickson, Jason Knauss, Dennis Blackstad and Brian Thiesen. The Boys Next Door was the hot band that played after we pounced all over Marshall in the boys’basketball game. The score was 76 to 72. Winterfest will always be a pleasant memory for all. Thanks should be given to all who put in their time and effort to make it a smash! ill JUNIOR CLASS PLAY DON’T ROCK THE BOAT Take “The Love Boat” season with “Mutiny on the Bounty” serve “Pirates of Penzence” for dessert and you get some idea of what Don t Took the Boat is all about! Tom Butterworth is determined to be the youngest cruise ship captain in history, even if this means sailing on a converted gunboat named Vengeance, with a crew of rejects from The Maritime High School, and a trio of girl singers who are passing themselves off as a famous show biz act. No wonder the engineer is seasick and the cruise hostess is pulling her hair in frustration. What about the passengers? There’s a fabulous Hollywood Star, Honey Hotchkiss, who is determined to star in GONE WITH THE WIND, PART TWO — only the producer would sooner walk the plank. A clumsy pair of thieves, a lady who loves pets but is allergic to fur, a non-stop jogger and a gung-ho nurse who practices giving hypos by stabbing oranges — and anything else that’s handy. To top it all off, there’s hijacking at sea by a misguided group of pirate loonies. If this isn’t enough to sink the Titantic there may be a shark in the pool. There is definitely a storm and a mud bank that proves unfriendly. One other thing — the ship has no insurance. “Don’t Rock the Boat” Cast Boris - Mick Halvorson Douglas ■ Jay Elness Mike - John Veenker Mr. Crankmeyer - Jeff Schuur Arlene Zane - Robin Duerksen Jogger - Billy Wessels Brenda - Tammy Thiner Jan ■ Jill Hammer Penny - Belle Maras Honey Hotchkiss ■ Tonia Stoffegren Miss Buford - Karey Kielty Commodore Withers ■ Bart Carey Mrs. Withers - Kirsten Nerhus Antonio - Chad Ray Cody ■ Scott Bockelman Capt.
