SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Being a senior had many responsibilities. Along with the homework and extra-curricular activities, we had a wide variety of decisions to make. We decided on the many alternatives facing a senior. Some have chosen to further their education and will attend a college or vo-tech, others will immediately enter the “real world” and get a job. We also decided on what type of career we are going to pursue. Our senior year wasn't all work and decision making. We enjoyed the simple fact of being a senior, with no class above us and being the class looked up to by the others. We enjoyed activities such as Fall and Winter Homecoming, dances. Prom, and the social life shared by teenagers everywhere. We especially enjoyed sports, savoring our last high school year. 8 As we leave WAHS, we wish the best of luck to the classes below us. “ThriUsviUe!” CINDY ANDERSON D.E.C.A. 3, 4; Library Cadet 1, 2. For 12 months she set aside the life she has known the last 16 years. That included Britta’s favorite German food, kinodel. Karin, Britta’s mother, is a secretary for a tax consultant. Both of them live in an apartment. When our foreign exchange students come, English seems to be pretty difficult for them to pick up. Not for Britta. She spoke the American tongue well when she first came and improved on that by watching T. V. and reading American books. Her favorite is Gone with the Wind. Miss Britta lives with Roger and Wanda Samdal. The Samdals have four children; Terry-23, Brad-20, Vicki-17, and Julie-13. Britta Lanla Alice Drappala. Birthday: June 13th, 1969. Hobbies: Sailing, Tennis, Knitting and Listening to Music. Favorite Animals: Cats and Dogs. American favorite food: Steak and potatoes (classy types of hamburgers and french fries). Phone Number: 02421-33310. 23 We wish Britta the best of luck in the future. MICHELE RENCZYKOWSKISecretary; TOM KUECKERPresident; JARED RA TZLOFF- Vice President. JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS We as juniors were given a greater responsibility this year than any of our other previous years at Windom Area High School. Some of these responsibilities were getting ready for and planning “Prom” and also the Junior Class Play. It was also the first year of varsity sports for many of us. We would like to wish the seniors good luck in their life after high school. They have given us some good times and support over the years. Our class is proud of the fact that we are pretty close. It’s hard to believe that after next school year we will be split up and go on with our lives, but we 've got another year and we ’ll be sure to make the most of it. 26 Heather Anderson Robert Anderson Paul Andresen David Blanshan Brent Bramstedt Eric Bretzman Sheri Bretzman Kelly Busse Brent Carey Wendy Chester Dana Clark Kelly Dalen Anita DiCristina Lisa Dunai Andrea Duncan Daniel Eckhoff Michelle Einck Paul Evers Mitchell Flatgard Patric Flatgard Perry Flatgard Lisa Fredrikson Troy Fundahn Mark Giefer Heidi Glidden Kay Glidden Paul Coin Melissa Graue Amy Gravley Shawnassey Greiner Angela Grunewald Amy Hecht Paul Hintze Mark Hochstein Tammy Hotzler Ben Imhoff 27 KristaI Jass Sue Johnson Tami Johnson Jana Jorgenson Shannon Jurgens Megan Keffeler Russell Kepler Donna Kilbourne Kimberly Kliewer Steven Knuth Michael Kruse Thomas Kuecker Scott Larson George Lewis Kathleen Lillegaard Jill Lindaman Gayle Lober Margaret Lytwyn Kalan Malchow Dianne Markey Troy Mead Thomas Moede Catherine Munning Cindy Nelson Lisa Nelson Mark Nerhus Dan Oeltjenbruns Lisa Pankonin Jana Paulson Douglas Perry Kimberly Pfeiffer Sharlla Piotter Russell Polzin Joel Purrington Richard Quarberg Brent Quiring 28 Melissa Ratajczak Jared Ratzloff Brenda Rehnelt Michele Renczykowski Mia Rustad Troy Sargent Chad Sater Paula Schoewe Daniel Schulz Jodi Schuur Jodi Skarphol Diana Smith Sherry Smith Jeffrey Snelling Lis Snider Shane Soleta Jeffrey Stahl Alan Theesfeld Joel Turner Margaret Twait Martin Uhlhorn Mark VanNorman Shawn Veenker Michell Voehl John Vos William Walters Tamara Wenskaug Sally Wessels Michael Wickie Kevin Wojahn Craig Zimmerman 29 SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS Our sophomore year has been an exciting one, full of new begin- nings and special memories. One of the things we had looked forward to the most was getting our driver’s licenses. It was really neat to see our friends driving and gave us a feeling of independence and maturity. Getting our class rings was another privilege of 1 Oth grade. As we picked out the styles and stones, we realized that making decisions on our own is part of growing up. We’ve enjoyed, for the most part, the harder classes and represent- ing our school as the ‘B’ squad in sports. We love a good challenge! You can be sure that our sophomore year will not be soon forgotten! The class of “88” is great! We can look back on all of our elementary and junior high years and smile or frown at ourselves. We must now take on new responsibilities with a new mature attitude toward academics and athletics. Let us then be optimistic as we look to our remaining high school years. 34 Keep your eye on the class of 89. GOLDEN EAGLE CONCERT CHOIR The Golden Eagle Choir is a select group of singers from grades 10-12. We performed several times this year under our new director, Steven Deitz. Some of our performances included: the Southwest Choral Fest in Worthington, our annual Chili Supper-fund raiser, taping for KEYC T. V. Mankato, and contests. Our clinic concert featured Alice Larson from St. Olaf College. We even had several students selected for state-wide honor choirs. This special week was none other than WAHS Fall Homecoming. This year we began Homecoming week with a very special day for the students-teacher inservice, which meant no school! Tuesday a lot of kids overslept and came to school in their pajamas and their favorite stuffed animal. A jello snarfing contest was held at noon. Wednesday was t-shirt and ugly tie day. Kids dug through their dads closets and found the most bogus ties ever seen. Thursday was clash day where kids dressed in the dark and snuck out of the house before mom saw them. Friday was the big day-Coronation. It started off at 8:15 with the theme “Heaven”. Getting us through the ceremo- ny were our Master and Mistress of Ceremony, Kevin Ball and Michele Schroeder. The entertainment this year was provided by Michele Schroeder, the pop group “Flight”, Lisa Strunk, Wendy Moede, the awesome break-dancing duo of Meredith Basinger and Tom Moede, and the ever famous “Gong Show”. Then came the moment we’d all been waiting for. Chet Meyer was crowned King and Marree Rossow was crowned Queen. The Royal Court included Queen candidates Leah Diemer, Becky Rothenbuehler, Paige Sunderman, and Geri Hanefeld. The King candidates were Chad Lindaman, Steve Reinders, Tom Torkelson, and Scott Foley. That night was the Homecoming football game against the Jackson Bluejays. Everyone was prepared and we “wacked” Jackson with the whopping score of 2-0. A dance featuring “Image followed the game. 109 WINTER HOMECOMING ROYALTY WINTER HOMECOMING Winterfest went well this winter and a new pair of royalty was chosen. Darrin Bockelmann was Winterfest King and Meredith Ba- singer was our Queen. “The Search is Over, ” by Survivor was the theme for the Coronation. Each day had an interesting twist for students to participate in. They were as follows: Monday- Backwards Day Tuesday- Think Summer Day Wednesday- Idol Day Thursday- Twins Day Friday- Dress-up Day (Traditional) Entertainment was at its best during the Homecoming Cere- monies. Singing was a popular skit, with every kind from serious to comical. The ever-popular Frizdick Brothers re- turned once again. The gymnastic team sailed through the air with daring skill. Also, four young teachers, Miss Trow- bridge, Miss Flohrs, Miss Wegehaupt, and Miss Ormberg, harmonized their voices to sing, “Mr. Sandman.” Friday night’s basketball game was replaced by a wrestling meet. The Eagles were victorious over the Pipestone Ar- rows, 33 - 29. The band for the dance was “Rocking Horse, ” from the Twin Cities. Winterfest '86 was a success! ill JUNIOR CLASS PLAY The 1985 Junior Class Play was a comedy about a girl, Hildy Haines, who contracts the measles the day of her Junior Prom. Due to her illness many people are quaran- tined to the Haines home, causing quite an uproar. Even with the small turnout, the play was a smash for those who attended. The cast and directors all had a great time putting it on. The roles were played by Jeff Cook-Tom, Betsey Johnson- Laura, Renee Pomerenning-Amanda, and Bart Carey-Jim. Kevin Wojahn was technical director, Tammy Holt was the student director, and Mr. Lindaman was the director. 113 Row 1: J. Langley, A. Duncan, C. Grunewald. P. Sunderman. P. Hintze, Mgrs. Row 2: J.
