They said... Close your umbrella, and give the sun a chance to shine The joys of life will surround you-- Don't block them out from your life — Open your eyes. So... And.. . I closed my umbrella and the sun shone brightly, My eyes were open For only a little while I opened it again. I had to! My eyes were not open to joy-- They were opened to a world filled with Hate, Jealousy, Prejudice. It was agony for me. Before, my umbrella shielded these terrors-- Please, let me keep it open ! Close yours. Face up to your own problems. Whether sunshine or gray clouds, A few drops of rain won't hurt you--- Besides.. . Raindrops fall even while the sun is shining -Ruth Keller

In Dedication- Lyle Nolt Lyle Nolt was born on the eighth of June, 1908 in Alexandria, South Dakota. His parents, Grace and George Nolt, had a large family. When Lyle was very young the family moved to Fulton where his father operated a lumber yard. A few years later they moved to a farm south of Fedora, South Dakota, in Miner County, where they lived while most of the children were growing up. In 1928 Lyle married Ruth Ostrander and they moved to Mitchell, South Dakota, They lived there for five years, where three of their children were bom. In 1933 they moved to Jeffers, Minnesota, where the remainder of their seven children were bom, five of whom survived. In 1945 they moved to Windom and their children graduated from Windom High School. Lyle worked as a trucker, for the firms of Mulligan and Andrews and later for Horkey and Mann as a mechanic, before coming to his present job in the Windom School System, a position he has held for the past twenty years. He will retire in June this year, due to a bad back, requiring two painful spinal operations. The future seems uncertain, with no plans yet other than to relax at home and visit with his nineteen grand- children and two great-grandchildren, with a little work for a change of pace. He has made many good friends in his school connections and will certainly miss them all, as they will miss him.
