Reid Speech Club On the second Wednesday of each and every month, the members of the Speech Club meet in room 109. Their goals were to encourage participation in drama and speech activities. Assisting them in their efforts to reach these goals were the faithful Mr. Lindaman and his sidekick Mr. Johnson. Using the monthly program , knowledge was gained and skills were developed in areas related to speech. Impromptu speeches were given, dis- cussions on politics were held, and philosophies of drama were presented. Opportunities for public debuts were, of course, offerend to all of the members. Students participated in the annual Variety Show. This year it was entitled STONE SOUP and presented on December 19. Pancho Chauvet and Bruce Earlewine, instrumenting unique ideas, were masters of ceremonies. Once a month two members are given-the opportunity to make guest appearances on the KDOM Kaleidascope program, bringing school news to the community. Looking to another Declam season, nearly 100% of the members competed. They worked with the coaches in the category of their choice. In March the Windom Invitational was held and again it was the success of previous years. Opportunities were given to the whole school to see professional theatre. They sponsored trips to the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. Plans are made for improvement in the old auditorium. A new sound system was purchased by the Speech Club to further enhance these plans. Members, officers, and advisors, alike, found much to be gained in the schedule of the year's activities. 25

Posters are placed in the halls before games and meets, and the athlete's lockers are decorated to help promote school spirit. This environment aids our athletes and coaches to win more. A school needs spirit; and it starts with Pep Club.
