How can we ever forget all the wonderful things we've done in the last four years of Senior high? Remember our Freshman year? We had Student Government Day and managed to run Junior High very effeciently, even if we must say so ourselves. Then, too, we'll always remember our great stage production--the Freshman Class Play. We had two that year, The Lady and the Crook, and The Lamp Went Out. In our eyes, no Broadway play could even begin to compare with them. Oh, then don't forget our first day as Sophomores. How we all suffered so from that lost feeling. The Seniors of '56 didn't make it any better, either, by persisting in calling us the little kids. Came 1957, and we found ourselves Juniors. Our first big accomplishment of the year was the Junior Class Play, Professor, How Could You? We still think George would make a sweet girl. We had a wonderful football season as well as basketball, but we can still remember the disappointment we suffered when we lost the first game of the District Basketball Tournament to Lakefield. ln no time at all it was May, and we began our preparations for the Junior -Senior Banquet and Prom. Inspite of all our good intentions, the theme somehow managed to reach the ears of our upperclassmen--the Seniors. All in all, though, we think it was the most beautiful banquet and prom we've ever seen at Windom High School. Who wouldn't have a wonderful time in a Japanese Garden ? And then, quite suddenly, we found ourselves Seniors. Remember all the times we grumbled about the three flights of stairs to third floor and used the old cliche escalator so often that the janitors seriously considered putting one in. Homecoming was terrific, even though we didn't Tranquilize the Trojans! The Senior Class Play was something every member of the class will remember for many years to come. lt was terrific, of course. It should have been. Think of all the acting experience our class has had. Then, suddenly it was May 28. We all sat in the auditorium listening to our commencement speaker. How proud we all looked in our caps and gowns. But for all its color and beauty, that night was also a sad one. When will our paths cross again? And now, we hope that God will safely guide us on our journey into the world, and may we never forget all of our beautiful high school. . . Everyone's head was buried in the first Tattler of 57-58. The year has begun for Roberta, our editor, the reporters, and typists. And what a successful year it was! Of course, this year proved no different than any other. There were always those whose articles were not handed in on time, the typists who would forget to double space, and in the final phase, either the paper was bulging with news or a wee bit short. Without these little things the paper wouldn't be the same. Few realize the many hours of work Roberta, Carole, and Miss Johnson, our advisor, put into each wonderful edition. A hearty thanks goes out to them, the reporters, photographers, and typists. The warm smile and expression of delight on the face of each student as they eagerly scan the new paper assures the staff that their work was well worth their time. 35 L a p, 2 72151 T, 15' 7 'Ei ?5 'Z f-T1 V1 if 4 :'f 'k! f Q 4' ff fax f 5 r gg, . Thilgen. 42 The fun-filled, exciting trip to the state fair really got the band's year started with a bang. With foot- ball games next on the agenda, who could forget the Droodle Show and the special Homecoming per- formance? And there also was that third trophy brought home from Mankato. Settling down in the band room and preparing of concerts again was hard, but the Fall Concert proved it was worth all the work. The turn of the year brought with it the new pepband shirts and the thoroughly worn-out Raunchy. Also new with the pepband was the band show presented on Valentine's Day. Contest time crept closer and closer, and Mr. Thilgen got louder and louder with his exasperated cries of Baritones! Sitnp l and Trombones, pay attention! The Spring Concert and contest brought reward and satisfaction of a job well done. The Baird and Choir Banquet put the frosting on the year's work. As the seniors heard the strains from the band at Commencement, they realized the band will go on without them, but all the memories from it will still be theirs. Our first public appearance of the year was our Annual Fall Band and Choir Concert. As had been done in the past, the choir and band combined their talents and came up with a splendid version of God of Our Fathers. I don't think we shall ever forget the Christmas Vesper Service when the electric organ blew a fuse during the Hallelujah Chorus, but we went right on and did a nice job anyway. Christmas in Many Lands was the theme carried out by the choir and the elabo- rate scenes painted by Jack Nordby and other members of the choir. Mike Ratzloff, boy soprano, added much to the concert with his solo Away in a Manger. Parts of this concert were recorded and played over the Worthing- ton radiostation. It wasn't long before it was time for the Spring Concert and Contest. Besides carrying out the regular functions of a choir, we found time to have car washes and raise money for a choir trip. l now bid a fond farewell to all the graduating senior choir members and a great year for the choir.
