OUR L0 UWB ullure Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. This is your up-to-the-minute reporter, 'Betty Brattlebrain' of Broadway. Flash!--Marion McCoubrey and Madeline Andrus will begin -their first day as teachers at Los Angeles High School this coming Monday. And from the west coast, Mrs. Douglas Lathers, former Barbara Bernhard, and her two children are planning to visit her panmus, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Bernhard. Rumors have it that Miss Jeanne Buist, through her fashion career, has met a promis- ing young ensign who we dare say has run off with her heart. Jimmy Elbrecht, civil engineer at Boulder Dam,has decided to discontinuelus bachelor- hood and has chosen himself a neat, little wife. For further information see Mr. Elbrecht. A flash which has just come thru! F.B.I. investigators, Dick Miller and Donald John- son, have uncovered new evidence on the ring of chloroform murderers now loose in New York City. Notice!--Walter Mattice, owner of Matt1ce's Mechanical Works has invented a new air- brake for the airplane. Nice work, Mattice! Leighton Jump is his master mechanic. Now from the sea! That dashing, retired naval officer, Richard Morse, and wife, the former Ruth Truby, have decided to settle down to the management of a small grocery store, formerly run by his father. Success to you both! Robert Sherman, successful carpenter in town, has just finished the construction of his new home. Latest news bulletin! A plane piloted by Alfred Stein, had to make a forced landing while flying from Texas to La Guardia Airport. Mr. Stein has been a pilot for Pan American Airways for four years. From the East Coast!--Mrs. Robert Mc Kinnon, nee Georgette French, hasdecided to give up her Job as an accountant to become the perfect, little housewifefbr Mr. Mc Kinnon. Harold Tompkins of the U.S. Army has recently received the rating of 2nd Lieutenant. Miss Barbara Gooss, finances of Patrick Madigan, has taken a secretarial Jobat Metro- politan Life Insurance Co. This is only temporary as the wedding is expected to take place in June. In going over the latest Florida items, I see that Miss Jeannette Hapeman is nursing at one of the large hospitals there. I saw in a New York paper that Miss Rita Kupka has just received an awardRu'her won- derful discovery in the field of dietetics. Not until I finished the article about Miss Kupka, did I see that it had been written by a Windham graduate, Rose Mattera, now a star reporter. What a coincidence! Margaret Van Loan, nursing at an army hospital, recently walked into the service club and sat down beside a member of the W. A. C. Itums't two min- utes before she recognized Freda Johnson, a former classmate, now a sergeant in the army. Flash! Flash! Mr. and Mrs. Donald Munson wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Gwen Elinor, to William Spencer of Windham. Miss Munson is a registered nurse at St. Peter's Hospital at Albany. I wish you both happiness. Marjorie Terns, member of class of l9h5, is going back to W. A. J. school--not as a student. She is Mr. Woodworth's private secretary. To the ladies! Watch for next month's WVogue' magazine. There will be six full-color pages of fashions designed by Clara Thompson of Jewett. This is your Broadway reporter reminding you of the class motto, WStrive to Improve'. Apparently, the members of this class have made it their guiding principle throughout life. Barbara Bernhard 18

One hour later we were dining at Toffennetti's and from there we went to the play, 'Lifevdth Father'. It had been an eventful day and after the show we all were rather weary, but don't think we went to sleep. Ah, no! We were enjoying room service at 3:00 A. M.--sand- wiches and coca cola. From there we went to the Rockefeller Center Observation Roofs and then to Radio City Music Hall where we saw 'Without Love' with Spehcer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn, and a su- perb stage show starring the Rockettes' special Easter pageant. After dinner at Stouf- fer's we went back to the hotel. Here was our chance to sleep, for our next excursion wasn't till ten o'clock when we attended the broadcast of the Chesterfield Super Club. Saturday we were delighted to have Mr. St. Hill spend the day with us. In the morn- ing we took a tour of uptown and downtown Manhattan including Chinatown, the Bowery, Wall Street, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Grant's Tomb, and ended with a ride on the top of a Fifth Avenue bus from 120th St. to Penn. Station. That afternoon most of us went to the Bronx Zoo. Margie Terns and Gwen Munson planned to go too, but after everyone else had entered the subway and the doors had closed, Margie and Gwen were still on the outside looking in. So Margie and Gwen stayed home. In the evening Miss Goslee treated us to the 'Hats Off to Ice' show. It was marvelous. Then came Easter Sunday when we donned our Easter togs and set off for church. A few went to St. Patrick's Cathedral, while others went to the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. In the afternoon we enjoyed the boat trip to the Statue of Liberty. Nearly everyone climbed to the head of the statue--although several of us regretted it later. Before we knew it Monday had arrived, and it was the day to go home. During the morn- ing some of but us toured the N.B.C. Broadcasting and Television Studios asus had planned, the rest of us just slept. One-forty found us all standing in the bus station--that is, all but Mr. Woodworth who had the tickets. Finally at two o'clock he came, and we boarded the bus for Windham. Five hours later we were safely home. what a wonderful and exciting trip it had been! 17
