'ffk A gf' K. i ,1Q,V J ,, 71 Ushering in the first home basketball game was the Home- coming celebration. lt was looked forward to many weeks ahead of time and through the efforts of the Student Council it was a success. The school band struck off the parade, leading it through the downtown streets. The parade consisted of many unique floats which displayed the imagination and originality of the students of old WHS. The first place in the float contest was captured by the Senior Class. while the Sophomores took second place. The most exciting part of the celebration was when the pretty queen candidates floated onto the floor and the queen was crowned by Miss Patty Parrish, 1954 Homecoming Queen. Elected as queen was Fanchon Francis, while Marlene Tolle, Patty Lacey, Reba Waddell, Julia Ericson, Peggy Blessing, and Wanda McCorkle, were chosen members of her court. Thus will my own life become rich and complete. This is the creed of the Sunshine girl. The Sunshine Society under the leadership of Mrs. Barr has been an active group in the school and community. This group gave a basket to a needy family at Thanksgiving. It sponsored after game dances and the Annual Sweetheart Dance. This year in the Homecoming Parade the Sunshine sponsored a float.
