Slesinger Student Nurses' Loan Fund was organized on February 18, 1953. The purpose ofthe organization is to make loans to qualified young women of limited financial means, to assist them in acquiring the education of a professional nurse at the Windber Hospital School of Nursing. The amount of the loan is three hundred and fifty dollars and it is to be repaid at the expiration of six months from the date of graduation at the minimum rate of fifty dollars quarterly without interest. The fund is established on a tax-free basis as are all contributions and may be deducted from income tax as such. ' ' 13

The committee concerns itself with all matters pertaining to the school and is constantly interested in improving the educational program as well as the general welfare and social life of the student nurses. Coifroth The Dr. William Stuart Wheeling Memorial Fund was organized in February, 1956. The purpose of this organization is to provide tinancial assistance for graduate nurses to further their education in nursing. The amount of the loan varies with the individual request. These loans are interest free. Arrangements for repayment are made on an individual basis. The Fund is sponsored by the Windber Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association and is established on a tax-free basis as are all contributions and may be deducted from income tax as such. Graduate nurses are encouraged to avail themselves of this fund. 14
