xCXJllCX.NlCXN!C'gJ41 B!-MSL: HllllWOIlll We treasure the dance program, the favor from the prom, the first orchid carefully preserved in the vague hope that in future years these trivial items will bring back happy memories of our youth. In the same way, we have tried in the yearbook through pictures posed and unposed, through biographical sketches and feature pages, to capture and preserve this year of graduation. In the years to come some of us will have daughters who will go to Winchester-Thurston. They will come home with statements about assignments that are too long, tests that are unfair. We will listen without sympathy and will speak in the aloof manner of adults, insisting that all will work out in the end. For the joys of our school years will have completely overshadowed the minor complaints. As we throw off our black-watch plaid we will assume another uniform. Instead of the skirt, a basic black dressg instead of the blue blazer, the tailored suitg in place of the class ring, the wed- ding' band-for we insist upon imposing certain patterns upon ourselves. But the following pages will prove to a certainty the infinite variety that girls can achieve, even in one costume. Our positions will change. Some who are higher on the ladder will level off, some down below will climb to the top. No one can predict our future lives, but the past is secure forever. We present this yearbook to show that our studies, our games, our dances, and friends of these past years will remain a very meaningful experience which no future events can erase. We have enjoyed carefree lives at a time when the world itself has gone through a very troubled period. Our days at Winchester-Thurston may well be the most serene we shall ever enjoy.
