z In March of last year, the pupils of the Winchester-Thurston School attended a cere- mony, at which it was announced that Miss Mary Frances Philput, dean of the upper school, was to become headmistress of the entire school and that Mrs. Rachel McCor- mick Houston, Who had been dean of the lower school, was to be assistant headmis- tress. NVe are now at the end of the first complete year of this administration, a year Mrs. J-lauslm . .9-ff:-Y which has brought many good things to the school. Both Miss Philput and Mrs. Houston are themselves Winchester graduates. After they had completed their academic education at Mt. Holyoke and Wellesley, they became members of the teaching staff here under Dr. Mary A. Graham Mitchell.
