:Farewell Now that our pilgrimage through Winchester-Tliurston has drawn to a close, we realize that we have come to the end of an important part of our lives, the cnd of our high school days, llut we should prefer to call this a beginning-ff a beginning of a new life. new experiences, new knowledge. l'or the pllgrlrnage of life has no end. and like fIhauccr's pilgrimage we too must move with joyful hearts toward our destinations. wherever they may be. Eventually we shall all find a purpose in life. Although as yet most of us do not know what it is, we know that it cannot be attained without careful prepara- tion. Here at Winchester. like a man scaling a mountain which is firm and large at its base and which gradually reaches a peak, we have begun the skyward climb to our individual goals. We have found that the ascent is not always easy. Many times we have be- come discouraged and felt that we do not measure up to Winchesteris standards. And yet for every disappointment there has been a double joy which has made us realize how truly grateful we are to those who have counseled us. to our teachers who in our last years here have come to mean much more than instructors to us. They are the ones who have both preached and practiced the ideals that every Winchester girl is proud to claim. We are certain that we are leaving thy pillared portals with greater rewards than we could have hoped for, and that we are prepared to continue successfully in life if we follow the high standards that have been set before us: courtesy. graciousness, integrity, and above all, consideration for others.
