Flower: Rose Colors: Royal Blue—Gold Sponsors: Mrs. Goodin Mrs. Lonergan Mr. Newton CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1965 eighty-five freshmen entered the Halls of Win-Co-Hi. They elected Mick McGlasson, president; Becky White, vice president; Grace Ray, Secretary-treasurer. The next year seventy-five sophomores returned to school. Their officers were: president Mick McGlasson, vice president Mike Mikus, secretary-treasurer Myra Lashmett. They decorated the gymnasium for the Homecoming dance, and won first place for their float in the parade. Seventy-three juniors began their third year with a successful magazine sale which helped finance the Prom. The banquet was held May 9, at Baxter Hall, Illinois College. The following evening the Prom, Apple Blossom Time was held in the Winchester Grade School. Their officers were: president Larry Harbison, vice president Dan Buhlig, secretary Becky White, and treasurer Dick McGlasson assisted by the class sponsors Mrs. Lon-ergan, Mrs. Goodin, and Mrs. Quillman. Becky White was chosen for Girls' State and Larry Harbison for Boys' State. In the fall of 1968, sixty-nine seniors returned for their last year at Win-Co-Hi. Their officers were: President Dan Buhlig, vice president Mike Mikus, treasurer Winnie Little, secretary Dick McLaughlin. Several seniors helped make the play a success, won honors in athletics, and worked in publishing the yearbook. The year was concluded with Baccalaureate and Commencement. Compliments of: JAMES A. The next afternoon the band led a parade of colorful floats around the square. That night the Wildcats scored a victory over the Mendon Mustangs 25--0. The Homecoming was concluded with a dance held on Saturday, October 19, highlighted by the coronation of the new queen, Miss Vickie Vedder. Her court consisted of Grace Ray, Debbie Hoots, Debbie Whitehead, and Betty Smith. Music was by the Marauders . The Student Council sold corsages of yellow mums for the dance. The 1968 football squad was a tri-winner of the I.V.C. title, with a 4--1 conference record and a 7--2 seasonal record. The winning season brought a large following of fans who honored the team with three banquets. The Darrell Spang award for exceptional leadership, spirit, and courage was given by the team's vote to Danny Buhlig who was also the winner of the most tackles trophy which was a school record. Eighteen members of the squad won varsity letters. Members who made the all-conference team from Winchester were Mick McGlasson, Jon Evans, Larry Harbison, Dan Buhlig, Mike Mikus, Mike Brockhouse, and Phil Peak. They took fourth place in the I VC Tournament. The Wildcats came from behind to win second place in their own invitational tournament. They lost to Beardstown in a close game 51 to 56 in the Regional. The junior varsity had a record of 10 to 8 for the season. They won nine of their last eleven games to finish strongly. Most of these boys will be back for the varsity team next year.
