As the sophomore class president, Sonia Ahmed organized the show with the help of Ms. Martin, Mr. Skinder, and other teachers who helped chaperone. The group Raw Deal with Bill Lee, Seb O ' Brien, Michael Fielike, and Dean Jackson performed with great enthusiasm. Outside it was cold and icy. From a distance the high school looked queer and tranquil. Yet little did onlookers know what was happening behind the doors of the crowded auditorium. The powerful rock sounds of Raw Deal, 5150, Alloy, White Steel, and Val Halla spewed forth from every speaker. The high school was alive with the sounds of the Battle of the Bands. A new and innovative idea for Fund raising, the Battle of the Bands pitted five unique bands against one another and let the audience decide whom they preferred. Making this choice was diffi¬ cult, due to faulty sound systems and bad accoustics. However, Winchester High School rocked the night away. Paul Beck had a great voice and James Dineen, Ken Barclay, John Newcome, and Anthony Morris of Alloy were also excellent. 22

Every year Mr. Larocco adds a lot of spirit and feeling to the Pep Rally and this year was no exception. How could a Pep Rally be the same without music? The Band was an essential element to the Pep Rally. 21

Jason Kreth, the singer of the group White Steel, with Brian Strange, Martin DeVriez, Jeff Mayer, and Scott Paine had a great stage presence. The winners were Adrian Harpham, Ken Gallo, and Scott Paine of 5150. Their manager was J.D. Chidsey. The crowd loved Tom Karis, Bill Newburn, Ben Porter, Brian Griffin, and Marc McGee of Val Halla.
