Y ou might think so. But take a closer look. 1986 at WHS was truly unique, like every individual who experienced it. Just like Halley ' s Comet, the year that was 1986 was Once In A Lifetime. White Steel hypes the crowd during the Battle of the Bands. This was the first of a stream of excel¬ lent musical and drama events generated by the students this year. Other events included the Mu¬ sic Fest, Buried Child, and Lype Synche just to name a few. Busy students take time to smile for the camera before the next class. Student Life From the first student union meeting to the last slow dance of the senior prom, WHS lingers on in the memory of each student. As the many students become deeply involved in the numerous clubs, activities, and programs, each slowly de¬ velops as an integral part of the community atmosphere of WHS. Participation in programs like Roxbury tutoring and Drug and Alcohol allow students to learn, and from this experience they share their knowledge with others. However, high school is not always all work and no play. Extravaganzas like the dances, sponsored by the different classes and Student Union, highlight the students ' lives. Various academic clubs advised by teachers, host activities, such as parties, exchanges and field trips throughout the year. The Red and Black, with its competent staff of student writers and editors, keeps the student body up to date on school and community events. For those students talented in the performing arts, WHS main¬ tains a strong band and theatrical club. For each student, WHS remains a special once in a lifetime experience.
